Mike has offers from Alabama, Nebraska, Penn State, Army and Toledo.
“I know the head coach Bo Pelini (Nebraska).” said Marrow, “My dad is good friends with Bo they use to play basketball together at Cardinal Mooney (Youngstown-Ohio). Just last week all the Nebraska coaches sent me hand written letters in one big envelope.”
“I don’t know much about Nebraska.” he said, “I’m going to visit them and Alabama this summer.”
“Alabama said I could play early. I know the Alabama coaches well.” said Marrow, “Coach Sabin sends me lots of letters and said they want me bad. I like the area, the SEC. Night now Alabama and Penn State are my top two schools.”
“I like Penn State’s tradition.” he said, “Last year I went to the Penn State and Perdue game. I really liked it a lot, the campus is nice.”
“Joe Paterno’s son Jay came by my school last week I missed him because I had a math test.”
“Notre Dame said they will offer me in June. They want to see my test scores first.” said Marrow, “Notre Dame is the only school that is recruiting me as a fullback. Others want me as a running back. Notre Dame said they only want one fullback (2009 class).”
“We just moved to Toledo last year from Columbus. My dad took a job here. Ohio State said they will offer me later. I went to some of their games last season.” he said
“Michigan State came by last week to get film. It looks like they might offer me later.”
Mike added that he would like to visit schools this summer and make a decision by fall. Alabama, Penn State, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Nebraska are among the schools Marrow would like to visit. Mike said he might not make the Penn State trip because of distance.

Closer to home, former Alabama fullback Mike Marrow ready to make impact at Eastern Michigan
Posted: Sep 17, 2010
When Vince Marrow's cell phone buzzed 15 minutes after he had spoken with his son, Mike, he knew the Alabama redshirt freshman fullback reached his breaking point.
Over the past 12 months, Marrow had lost a grandmother and a great-grandmother, making being 14 hours from home even tougher than it already was.
Now, his grandfather was gone, just nine months after being diagnosed with melanoma. In one succinct text message to his father, Mike Marrow delivered the news his father feared was coming.
"I gotta get out of here," the message read. "I've got to come home now."
Last week, Marrow walked into Nick Saban's office and told his coach of his intention to leave Alabama. Immediately, the 6-foot-2, 235-pound highly touted fullback searched for a school that would allow him to move closer to home.
There was plenty of interest, including from Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin, programs that offered Marrow scholarships when he was the second-rated high school fullback in the nation by ESPNU and was ranked in the top 15 by Rivals and Scout.com.
As attractive as playing at a Big Ten school was, there was something about Eastern Michigan's program that appealed to Marrow.
"It feels a lot better being this close," Marrow said of Eastern Michigan on Thursday. "I'm just trying to do what's best for me. For me, it's not always about winning and being on the best team. I would like to come in and help change things around and make good things happen.
"I just want to help this program out, and I believe I can."

Central grad Mike Marrow looks to transfer to UM
By RYAN AUTULLO
BLADE SPORTS WRITER
Central Catholic graduate and former Alabama running back Mike Marrow may transfer to Michigan, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Blade.
Marrow, the nation's second-ranked fullback two years ago, transferred from Alabama to Eastern Michigan in September, wishing to be closer to home so he could better deal with the death of three grandparents in a 12-month span. He never played a game for the Eagles and is now looking elsewhere.
If Eastern Michigan's grants Marrow's transfer request, he will likely choose between Michigan, Tennessee, Iowa, Wisconsin and Southern Illinois.
Complicating Marrow's decision is the fact Michigan is currently without a coach after firing Rich Rodriguez Wednesday. But the next coach may have use for Marrow who was Alabama's third string halfback in fall camp behind Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram and excellent back-up Trent Richardson.
Marrow (6-foot-2, 235 pounds) is the big-bodied running back Michigan is lacking, save for freshman Stephen Hopkins (230 pounds).
Marrow redshirted at Alabama and never achieved eligibility at Eastern Michigan. He expects to have four years of eligibility beginning next season.

This potential transfer of former Alabama fullback Mike Marrow to NU would be nice, but adding his father, Vince, to the Husker staff as an offensive graduate assistant is better. It's not every day ? hell, practically any day - you pick up an eight-year NFL player who coached in NFL Europe and at Toledo. As a GA, Marrow can work with the tight ends in practice, giving NU, in effect, an extra high-level coach for specific position.
And while Vince Marrow can't recruit off campus, he's worked enough camps in recent years that his contacts and experience will make valuable inroads into Big Ten country and Florida. Bo and Beck have their share already, but Marrow is fresh from the scene. Bo made a shrewd move here.
The kid, Mike Marrow, appears to be a rumbler, a forward-leaning Brahma bull who knows his role. But the bigger news of last week was Braylon Heard announcing (again) he had the test score necessary to enroll at NU. I like Heard more than Ameer Abdullah or Aaron Green ? he gets downhill fast, squares those shoulders and dares somebody to take him down ? and the Youngstown native creates even more competition for a backfield that needs it. It'd be good if Rex Burkhead evolved into a guy who catches 25-30 passes, carries the ball only 150 times or so, and stays fresh for the stretch run - that meaty trio of games at Penn State, at Michigan and vs. Iowa ? when young guns start to hit the wall.
