'10 OH OL Matt James (Notre Dame Signee - RIP)

Just finish watching Ft. Thomas Highlands shock Cincy St X. Highlands dominated the game. I tried to bring some of their athletes to peoples attention on here specifically Austin Collinsworth.

James looks like a leader he was trying to fire the troops up. Oddly he went up against a DE who was 5'10" 170lbs all night. He was very quick and got around James a few times but James got him on a few plays too, the entire Highlands team is built on speed that is how a school with 1/4 of the male population was able to shut down one of the best in OH.

Still excited about James he's a big guy in person and I loved seeing him scream Tebow style in the huddles...

BN $ - Matt James: 'I'm pretty confident I will?'

10/1

By BK...has been to games at UC, OSU and ND this year...will likely take officials to at least Ohio State, Notre Dame and Cincinnati.

What else does this kid need to see about these three schools. At this point what else is left? He's made a lot of unofficial visits to each school.

Does anyone have any sense where he's leaning? The experts don't seem to really know.

That's because James has been playing it REALLY close to the vest and not give a lot of vibes for prediction concerning his "final" destination. Although, from the info that has been posted in this thread by some respectable posters, it really seems like he is cincy's to lose. I personally am not holding out hopes for him, fwiw.

The only thing that keeps coming back to me is how long is Brian Kelly really going to be there? That has to be taken into consideration I would imagine.

I don't see him there in 3 or 4 years.

But, how many times are the coaches in kelly's position will truthfully diagnose the situation with potential recruit?? zilch. instead, i bet kelly will tell his recruits how he belongs in cincy, how he is happy there, how he will be coaching there for a long time.
so, it is all a moot point, imo.

Doesn't matter what coaches say, kids and their families should be doing their own research. It's not a secret in Cincinnati that Kelly interviewed for other jobs after last season.

To me it seems like a lot of changes occur right after the season with coaches being let go as early as possible so the program can hire a new coach that will provide some recruiting stability. Based on that timeframe, if say ND cans Jabba the Hut, it will be sooner (easrly January) rather than later. My main point is that if Kelly goes leave Cincy, it will almost assuredly be before signing day so Matt can see for himself if Kelly is staying or not. My gut tells me that Kelly is gone after this year...

If he is there after next season I will be shocked. I'm sure that Matt and his family are aware of this and that has to be a HUGE concern as Kelly is the reasont that Cincy is where they are.

I could see Kelly at ND or even an SEC school sooner rather than later.

James to be honored by U.S. Army All-American Bowl

St. Xavier senior OL Matt James is expected to be honored by U.S. Army All-American Bowl officials on Oct. 27 at noon at St. X.

James, who is 6 feet 7 and 290 pounds, has committed to playing in the all-star game, which will be Jan. 9 in San Antonio. The game will be nationally-televised by NBC.

Nothing new on the recruiting front with James, who has stayed focused on his senior season with the Bombers. He is considering schools that include (no particular order) UC, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Boston College and Florida.

?Matt will take his officials after the season and may wait until the last day to make his decision,? St. X coach Steve Specht said.

I wonder if Henderson's decision could impact where he goes...

If I'm torn between OSU and ND for instance and feel like it would be a win/win situation, if I wanted to be a LT I would wait and see what Seantrel does.

Matt may see himself as a LT, but imo there is no way. I see him as a dominate run blocking RT or possibly even inside at guard. I see a lot of similarities between Shugarts and James. I see what you're saying in terms of talent though.

I would agree. S. Henderson is their LT IMO. Looking good but not a done deal. Norwell could play any position and has a nasty streak. I think we are in very good shape for James and Henderson. No insider opinion just a hunch. James has visited OSU more than ND. Dad is a Cinit alum. Henderson could be swayed by USC but I sense the home town town Golden Gophers are also very much in play. At least they are all not looking at still cutting their list.
