Nix: "I'd like to see Boeckman redshirt myself."

Can he even redshirt after gray-shirting? I wouldn't think that'd be feasible or good for the kid even if you were allowed to do that. In that situation, he'd be a Senior in college and a Sophomore eligibility-wise in three seasons.

Yep he can Sloop, that was the whole reason why they grey-shirted him (he wasn't actually enrolled in college till a later quarter so his eligibility didn't begin). They wanted some space between Zwick and Smith and him.

(Man does that mak eany sense?)

he can still redshirt this season as he wasnt allowed to practice with the team last year......once school started....

this way he can end his eligibility with a full masters that was paid for....thats not too bad for the kid.... :biggrin2:

He can redshirt, that's the point of grayshirting. If he busts his ass in the classroom he can get his Masters on a football scholly. He wasn't allowed to be a full time student last fall so he probably isn't as far ahead as you might think.

OSUsushichic: "I was thinking that you played football at OSU. Or am I getting you mixed up with someone else?"

Me and Tibbs had a running joke on BNuts that I am Josh Jackson, former place kicker for the Bucks. And of course, we all know that it can't be true. Or is it? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Sears: Thanks. Hmmm, now he may have two years to earn that schoolie...

Seriously, we need to sit back and relook at just how well we've been off on both sides of the kicking game the last two seasons. We had the best place kicking/punting tandem in the nation in both 2002 (Nugent/Groom) and 2003 (Nugent/Sander). It appears from this that it's better to have separate place kickers and punters rather than having the same individual do both. Doing so allows the player to focus solely on his "specialty", be it field goals or punting, rather than having to practice at both.
I agree with you in that they should be separated because punting and kicking are two different parts of the game. They use different techniques to accomplish their desire ends. To have the same individual do that could jeopardize both aspects. yes we did have the best in 2002 and 2003.

Naples: "I hope some of you clowns can attend the kicking scrimmage and let us "out of staters" know how Huston and Trapasso looked punting."

I'll give you my expert opinion on the OSU Kicking game, as I am Josh Jackson, former Starting Placekicker.

Kick Scrimmage

Scarlet won 26-24. Nugent looked shaky kicking into the closed end, but was drilling 40-55 yarders in the open end and almost made a 60+(at least it looked like 62 yds from where I was sitting). Branden Joe laid a couple of monster knocks on Ashton Youboty who was returning punts. Huston looked fairly decent kicking FGs, and Trapasso as well punting. Kyle Turano looked shaky, and there was some poor guy wearing #41 or #44 or something like that(I guess it was JD Bergman, the wrestler?), he fumbled a punt snap and shanked another one. AJ Trapasso was shaky on the holding. Holmes and Youboty each looked pretty good returning kicks.

Yeah, Pittman looked pretty good. He had a 30 yd TD run down the sideline. I didn't see all of the pre-scrimmage stuff, so there may have been more nice stuff from Tony...he had a couple solid runs up the middle and got stuffed a couple of times as well.

I saw the post on the O-Z and that guy's just a tad carried away. Lydell had a similar run too. Don't get me wrong, Pittman looked good, but it didn't make me think he's going to start or anything.
