2009 Instate Players to Watch

The Badgers have been all over Ohio since they hired Joe Rudolph as Tight Ends Coach.

The list of Ohioans we've offered in the '09 cycle include:

Pat Hinkel
Chris Freeman
Pat Muldoon
Dan Fox
Bradley McDougland
Cornelius Carradine
D.J. Hunter
Davon Custis
Marcus Hall
Justin Turner

We're also very interested in LB Zakee Bashir (Toledo Offer), CB Wali Morris, CB Dale Peterman, OL Ryan Spiker, LB Jacob Green, DB Mike Edwards, LB Ryan Cheek, WR Ted Bolser, OL Chauncey Clemons .

Bashir could be an early commitment if we offer at camp. He esteems the Badgers quite a bit.

Morris I interviewed and wrote an article about on Recruiting Planet. He had a very tumultuous childhood (he told me quite a bit more than was in the story) and is the type of kid anybody with a heart would cheer for (excludes Tibor), regardless of where he's from or for whom he'll play.

THE UW (not Washington) is banking on the fact that THE OSU (not Oregon St.) is becoming an even more attractive option to recruits nationally, therefore there will be more talent in the state of Ohio leftover for scavengers like themselves. Also, Ted Ginn Sr. recommends Wisconsin to his kids, because several have had success at our school in the past.

Get out of our way Cincinnati. Don't lie to recruits and tell them the Big East actually provides a high major competition level.

I just like this emotion icon, and I don't know in what other context I could possibly employ it, so here. :skeleton:

It's a shame he probably won't get much of a look from us. I liked what I saw. He has a nice quick release, stood tall in the pocket, and showed some accuracy. What kind of competition does he go up against?

QB Patrick Nicely from Willoughby South has gotten quite a few offers from schools. He's met with coaches from pretty much all B10 schools and is also getting alot of interest from Boston College, Stanford, and Pitt as of recently.

A couple recruiting sites(rivals mainly) has had him pegged as the top QB for 09 in Ohio and he has performed extremely well at recent camps.

I spoke to him the other day and although his "Dream School" is Ohio State he realizes with Prior now in the fold that is very unlikely.

According to his mom he will probably wait til at least the season starts, and probably not til after his senior season to decide because he's just recently been getting recruited hard by some of the big time programs.

Not sure on Bashir being a good player for you guys...Think there are better options for you guys...

Maybe I am wrong and I have been before, I am just not that high on him...

I doubt that you've been wrong before.

I think it's a legitimate concern that he has no true position. He doesn't appear to have the frame or quickness to be a defensive end. He's already not quick/agile enough to play in coverage. Best case scenario he's an SLB or a stocky, run stopping SSDE. And those are optimistic propositions. The Badgers don't really need either anyways. We need an athletic WLB's and big DT's. So you may be right again.

Don't see DE at all...I saw him tomorrow live and he didn't really show me anything, and doesn't look like a DE at all...Solid player, but I see a small SLB or WLB but not a top tier big ten team...JMO...

Another name gaining momentum is Dan Molls...LB from Padua Franciscan...has picked up offers from Bowling Green, Ball State, Miami of Ohio, Ohio University, Army, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan.

Most likely a Kentucky commit if/when they offer. He'd be a legacy there, and really hard to get to commit elsewhere unless a much bigger program offered.

Slot isn't a need remember? That's why James Jackson wasn't a big loss...

With regards to Underwood...How would he compare to players like Jordan Hall and Chris Fields? Is he the pure receiver or is he similar to Shaw from last year, where he'll be kind of like a scat/third down back?

I think he could play here, but with Fields and Jackson already in the bag I don't see an offer coming...I have him as the second receiver in the state behind Fields...Wade has Ashford or did...

The thing with Underwood is he is a little undersized compared to Hall and Fields who have more bulk to them to take a pounding, but Underwood will make you miss...

I admit I might have been off on Ashford (and Sims for that matter), but you can't tell me that Ashford's film doesn't look like a bit like a copy of MMs. He still has a chance to put together an offer sheet by going to some camps this summer (or on the Ginn bus tour). Underwood has solidified himself as the #2 WR "prospect" in the state, with Terence Davis sitting at #3 followed by guys like Ashford, Josh Jones, Jeff Duckworth, Jeff Walker...and one other guy I like as a candidate to pick up steam this summer in Jordan Hopgood.

I know I am just giving you a hard time:biggrin:...I like Ashford as well, and was never knocking his film...
