2009 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

The last I remember was a kicker. Ended up at Pitt?

Every year there are folks speculating that we could/should bring somebody in as a G-S. I would be surprised if there were serious offers behind most of that speculation - particularly when it involves players who can land schollies at top tier programs.

The way the 2009 train is rolling, I think an over/under vBet on 2009 verbals before 2008 LOI day would be a cool thing. Better yet - Let's hear from the BPRT what their best guess would be . . . .

Im thinking 1 more...but after the 1/11 weekend, the staff will likely have some more evaluations/eyeball tests done...there are a few kids in-state who would likely commit very quickly. This will be a larger class...

I'm guessing between 23 and 25...and I too expect one more [to go public] before NLOID as well...

Help me out here, 3 or 4 months ago we thought we had only 16 or so ships to give in '08, and 25 to give in '09. Now with a possible 4 juniors going pro this year we can use those ships in '08 instead of '09. My point is, if we use those 4 ships this year and sign 20 instead of 16 aren't we down to 21 for '09?

Between transfers this year, early departures in '09 (ie Beanie), and other potential attrition in '09... it seems pretty easy to bridge the gap between 21 and 23-25.

When Melvin Fellows was offered, some on here thought he would not make it to 2008 without committing to OSU. With that looking unlikely, does everyone still feel confident in Fellows eventually switching to OSU?

I think it is easier to start with outbound players...the current junior class numbers 24...so there are roughly 24 spots for '09 right there...subtract a couple for guys that leave early (maybe Gholston and Boone and thus add to the available number in '08) and add one or two for the usual defections (early draftees next year, transfers, injuries that no longer count against the 85, etc.) and that is why I am guessing around 23-25...

This chart always helps me...
