2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

I still find the Barwis quote in the CBS Sports Dodd story disturbing:

"We were the strongest team in the country the last four years," Barwis said of West Virginia. "No one was stronger than us. Best conditioned, the fastest, [best] change of direction, most balance, best body awareness, most explosive."

They didn't win anything. So you're the strongest team in the country...

 Reminds me of a guy I worked construction with. He was about 5'5'', and he was always telling us how he was going to go to a small college on football scholarship, move to a bigger school once people saw how good he was, and then on to a pro career.

My buddy and I were gigging him, and asked about his h.s. team. He said they were the best in the conference. I asked him "What was your record your senior year?" They had three wins. :slappy: When we quit laughing so hard we could hear him again, he was going on and on about how "every team we played was black and blue from the pounding we gave them - nobody wanted a piece of us!"

So my Buddy said "If they ever change the rules from points scored to bruises, you guys will rule!" Looking back, he may have been a Michigan Man.

From the mgoblog.com article

"RR will one day be where USC is"

I believe the two run different offenses.

Actually, this statement may be the one quote from the article that I wholeheartedly agree with. In full, it stated: "RR will one day be where USC is, where Florida and the SEC power are, where the Oklahoma is"

I find it plausible that RR will indeed soon be where USC is, i.e., in California, and Florida, and Georgia, and Alabama, and Mississippi, and even the(sic) Oklahoma--looking for work.

:oh:

Doesn't leave one much time to work on one's kinesiology degree.

The player, who asked not to be identified for fear of repercussions from fans, said in-season Sundays at the football facility lasted from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., including a one-hour lunch. That would be an 11-hour day. The NCAA daily limit is four hours, the weekly limit 20.
The same player said required offseason workouts included three-hour lifts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and two hours of speed and agility on Tuesdays and Thursday. That's a total of 13 hours; the NCAA limit is eight hours of required workouts.
