2013-2014 B1G Men's Basketball

This NCAA tournament will be the toughest to predict. I can't wait to see the seeding because it won't matter. There is no clear cut #1 team let alone four top seeds. I could see a final four with 4 big ten teams and a final four with zero big ten teams. Match-ups will be the deciding factor and that is all up to the committee (I hope Gene Smith isn't involved).

Think it might have been the Iowa/OSU game thread I mentioned it, but man, people talk about MSU being the BigTen's best chance to go deep in March, I gotta stay with the Iowa talk I had earlier.

Talking about a tempo and style that will throw some tournament teams off, mixed with some real talent and athleticism, and top it off with the experience and leadership they have. Dangerous team to me.

(of course they'll get bounced day 1)

Earlier in the year I would've agreed with this, but geez Iowa's falling apart down the stretch--they've lost three in a row and are 4-6 in their last 10.

Well those Penn State losses really hurt now looking at it we would be sitting at 11-5 and in 3rd place right now. Even just that last game loss we still had been set up to get the 3 or 4 seed with Iowa losing at Indiana.

Now I have to wonder if we will finish at 9-9 when a couple days ago I was dreaming of a 12-6 record. Can we win at Indiana ? Can we win at home on Craft's senior day against a full strength Michigan State team ?

Yup, those PSU losses really hurt us but I am not a big seed fan because sooner or later you are going to have to beat one team or another. It is not like when you advance the teams get weaker so it really does not make that much of a difference. I know it certainly would be nice to visit the Sweet 16 again if nothing else.

Those last two games concern me also. IU is one hell of a streaky team. Can be very good and can be very very bad. Sort of a mirror image of us but only in how they play. MSU is a different story. Just saw that Dawson is starting to work out again so he probably will be ready to play against us next day. I know it is the last home game for Craft but let us not forget about Smith, Jr. While he has not played the greatest this year, he has been here for 4 years and has always given it his best. He should not be forgotten next Sunday but IU and their asinine coach comes first.

Illinois just getting jobbed by the referees in this game. Horrendous calls keeping MSU in the game...
Yes, but but Izzo is getting bonus points for his dance moves on the sideline.
On a different note, I liked Dakich's comments about TV Ted and his antics. If a coach got in TV Ted's face the way TV Ted got in the UC coach's face, the coach would have been ejected and probably suspended.

Illinois holds their 4th straight opponent under 50 points. The only loss in those four was against the Buckeyes.

Being the 4th seed in the Big 10 tournament might be a big thing as the 5th and 6th seeds could easily lose this year in the opening round and as the 4th seed you get a bye. It would really crush our NCAA seed to lose in that opening round if we were the 5th or 6th seed be great to win the last 2 games and have Iowa drop 1 more and get that 4th seed but not counting on it.

I hate to even talk about that guy but TV Ted is lucky that he did not get cold cocked by Cronin. He really crossed the line and I would not be surprised if some conferences do not let him have games. I think I also heard that earlier this week he had a fan ejected from a game and the fan did not even swear at him. I think TV Ted is getting a little too big for his britches. I wish he would have gotten in Bob Knight's face like that back when Knight was still coaching. Bob would have taken care of him.
I'm glad he didn't. If it had been Knight, Knight would have been suspended for the year and Valentine would have received sympathy. Although I would have enjoyed watching Knight take care of Teddy, I would have hated the repercussions for Knight.
