2013 tOSU Defense Discussion

Load the box and trust our CB's until proven otherwise. Only reason our D is on the field for most of the game is because Miller and co. put points up too fast. One thing for sure is that we will get a great idea on how far our front 7 have come along.

IMO the most important player on D this week will be the second guy to the ball. Whoever it is really needs to understand that he needs to come in under control and secure the ball carrier. Don't come in thinking about laying wood on the ball and knock off the first guy there and free the dude with the ball. I hate when that happens.

Agree...don't think the Wisky QB has proven he can beat anyone. Stop the run and make that kid throw it.

Agree here, we rarely mak the play at the initial point of contact by the defense. We need the second, third an ourh payers there to contain and make th play. And. For sure we need to defend the WR screen much better, especially when we play NW...

The good news here is that in Roby's first game back, Urb said he played great man but poor zone. Awesome. Load the box. Let the good times roll.

And please, please, please defend that mother loving jet sweep.
I think our success doing this will determine the game IMO. We cannot give up huge chunks in the running game.

I will be furious if we somehow lose this game. For 3 reasons.

1. It's at night in our house
2. We no longer hold our own destiny
3. (And the biggest reason) these fucks have "big ten champ" banners on their stadium for the last three years. Bottom line we are the champs and have been the champs they just benefited from us being ineligable. They have what belongs to us.

This.... Stave against Purdue was 12/19 for 158 yards and an INT, against Zona State he was 15/30 for 187 yards and a TD

He is a 55% passer against the 2 non completely awful teams he has faced this year, definitely nothing to write home about

Hopefully someone who knows what they are talking about can explain, our problems defending the pass? The line and linebackers look okay to me, did I miss something? Do we have a coverage issue?
I didn't think the linebackers looked ok in pass coverage, I thought they looked bad. I can't name any times where D. Grant got beat and I thought Barnett and Bryant played well. Powell got beat a few times but overall he was good.
