2015-2016 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

Guys need to buy into Thad Mattas defense. They just aren't. Well most of them aren't.

I'd rather have those guys that are balls out and doing everything they possibly can to prevent that other team from gaining an inch, than the guys who can occasionally "fill it up". I could win with those hustlers more often than not. There's a few on this team but the body language and visible effort is seriously lacking. Guys need to grow up fast.

That being said, all is not completely lost. Some good signs out there that guys are figuring their roles out. Now they just need 100% effort. That's why I love our bigs. They don't always make the play and are often in foul trouble but they are taking shit seriously out there and putting their bodies in the mix. I love that!

Always nice to beat TSUN, and I'm looking forward to seeing if the Bucks can beat Sparty and/or Iowa in the Schott, but Saturday's game at Nebraska can't be overlooked if we're to get Thad 20 wins and even sniff the bubble.

Dare I say...I might actually have hopes these guys somehow make the tournament. It's at least a little more conceivable. Need to Beat Nebraska and then finish one of the last 3 against MSUx2 or Iowa (they'll both be top 10).

11-7 in the Big Ten, plus a chance to beat a patsy in the 1st round of the BTT that places them at 20 wins. Plus a rather weak field. I don't know, maybe.

This season the NCAA tourney is gonna be a free-for-all. if OSU could just make the field they could possibly luck their way to a S16 appearance.

I think we're gonna probably fall just short of making it in... but I'd rather we didn't.

And, I mean, I dunno that we'd necessarily play many more games in the NIT, this team and this college basketball season are just too unpredictable.

It's always great to make the tournament but would it be more beneficial for next year to go to the NIT and get more experience?

I think there is merit to that idea, but like someone already alluded to, this team could blow an early game in the NIT and nullify the benefit of a long run. I'm thinking of it this way - even a one and done trip to the NCAA tourney gives these guys some feel of the big tourney going into next year when the team should be fairly high seed.

If we don't make the big tourney, no worries, I'll be as involved in the NIT as I have been for years.

That's what I've been hoping for all along to give us a chance. A 19-12 regular season with 11-7 in the BIG has to get some serious consideration. Our RPI isn't looking too good, so hopefully that rises before selection Sunday.
