This. Give Warriner a MASSIVE pay increase and keep him at all costs. I doubt we could get Whitfield out here as a QB coach but that would be incredible. Honestly, Trestman would be a great QB coach. Whoever we get, I just want him to be a great coach...really don't need a massive recruiter at the QB spot with Haskins presumably in for '16 and Clark for '17, we do not need immediate recruiting prowess there...just a great developer of talent. Plus Urban dominates the QB recruiting scene anyways. Just get a great coach.

Coaches don't recruit exclusively for their own position group. Gotta get somebody who can pull their weight.

Whoever they get is not going to simply be a QB coach. Coach Meyer has shown that he values the co-coordinator structure for continuity. The fact that people are comfortable with Warinner taking the reins is testament to this approach. In order to maintain that structure they need to hire somebody who is a capable OC in their own right, even if it is Warnnier who is the lead next season. After all, what happens if Warinner gets hired away after 2015. Would you rather the Buckeyes be in the luxurious position they're in right now, or would you rather they be completely without an OC and hiring from scratch?

As to the first part, I understand that...it is more of a regional assignment and that reminds me that Herman killed it with recruiting TX. Would be nice to get a guy that can recruit that region as well. But we certainly will want a guy ready to take the reigns if/when Warriner is (dreadfully) taken. Continuity can be a great thing.

I don't think you could go wrong with Marc Trestman or Sonny Cumbie (TCU's Offensive Coordinator/QB coach).

Cumbie would be an interesting choice. Developed Trevone Boykin from a WR/RB and turned him into a Heisman candidate, lead one of the most potent offenses in the country this past year, and is very familiar with Texas for recruiting.

I'd be fine with TCU, Baylor, aTM, or Auburn's OC. All can recruit and can call plays in a spread system. But I'm sure a number of names will emerge that I have never heard of

Hire General William T Sherman he has a great game plan on how to handle southern (SEC) teams. Burn....Baby....Burn.

Give Warriner a big raise. But that won't prevent him from wanting his own gig as a head coach.
Going forward, how well this team does in the future will depend a lot on how well Urban can replace coaches that move on to head coaching jobs.

Agreed, that was an issue for him at UF, he had an all star team of coaches there, but hard to keep them from wanting their own HC gig

Boise State: Offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Mike Sanford interviewed for the same job at Ohio State, but will remain with the Broncos, according to Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans.

sounds like the thinking is he turned it down because there wasn't gonna be much OCing going on.

Interviewed doesn't necessarily mean offered, but whatever. End result is the same whether or not he actually turned an offer down.
