How does he do in recruiting?

Obviously he isn't being brought in to be the play caller so as nothing more than a position coach I'm wondering if Urban thinks he's a hammer recruiter?

My initial reaction wasn't positive but until Urban proves otherwise I trust in his judgement blindly.

I don't know how good/bad he is as a recruiter... but ~5 years coaching Texas HS has to be a factor
Yep. Obviously more will come out as the writers begin to research, but the initial talk is Beck has handle Texas recruiting historically.

There's no doubt the Urban offensive train will keep rolling.

Interesting... But HS ties to FL, AZ and TX and did a pretty good offensive job at Nebraska working wi RBs and QBs, and led Kansas to their most successful season with Coach Warriner

These are some reasons for his hire besides being the position coach. He can recruit some places with high end talent, especially Texas. I'm sure it'll be easier to bring talent to Cbus than Lincoln. He may not be a big name, "sexy" pick, but I think if he can develop our QBs and keep bringing in top talent to fit our system, than I'm all for the hire.

Kind of the Billy Beane approach.

One guy can't replace the output from the guy you lost so do it with a platoon.

Beck recruiting in Texas and Warriner/Urban calling the offense.

Urban has all my confidence.

Well Beck is the leader in the clubhouse for the best "I'm fucking nuts and about to gouge out your eyes and skull fuck you" stare on the staff.

Not a home run hire, but if OSU was looking for someone to make more of a lateral move so that they could keep/promote Warriner then it's pretty good. If he was one of the first guys they looked at, then Meyer must think pretty highly of him.

Nebraska's offense was never really the problem, but their passing game has been mediocre at best. Martinez and Armstrong aren't exactly world beaters though.

Also, he's more likely to stay 3-5 years than most of the other names thrown out and that might be a big draw as well.
