2017 Offensive Coordinator Discussion

Saw a name floated for QBs coach. Ryan Day former eagles and 49ers QB coach and Chip Kelly disciple.

Well I guess he is now our QBs coach per wiki
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Day_(American_football)

If this is the guy not sure how I feel, I mean he coached the likes of Nick Foles, Matt Barkley, Sanchez, Gabbert and Kap.

He had shit to work with but that doesn't scream moving to a better situation from where we are now

OR how can you claim plays go through you? FUCK.

Mike Weber had one carry... ONE FUCKING CARRY by halftime. How does this even happen?

Enlighten us on how they improved...

This year? Not at all. Compared to when he got here? Quite a bit. But this was a completely new unit, which was the same when he got here and it was awful. It takes a bit to develop talent and coach them.

The improvement with Smith and Spencer was pretty damn good. It was truly a "clown show" before Smith had a year with the unit and that same group improved leaps and bounds. One bad year out of the last few has me less inclined to hit the eject button than Beck, who has nothing but "clown show" on his position resume.

I hope it's true....would be a respectable hire of a young, bright mind, and a guy with a fresh perspective.

It could also be a precursor to a bigger move.

Ohio State no longer appears on his page.

Got a text this morning from a BC guy saying he heard the same thing, haven't seen it confirmed anywhere.

Top notch recruiter as well so it'd make sense. 37, OC experience, NFL experience, top recruiter.....Addazio was at practice right before the Fiesta Bowl and Day worked with him quite often so wouldn't be surprised if there was a long discussion there about him.

Do people really want Zach Smith gone...? That's absurd.

You don't fire one of the top 3 recruiters in college football.

This teams issue is play-calling and putting the kids in the right spots to succeed. We actually played to our weaknesses multiple times this year.....I thought we must be trying to work the kinks out in those specific areas....it turns out our OC(s) just don't have a clue. This will rectified, but this isn't on Zach Smith. Zach Smith isn't the one calling 21 pass plays in the first 27 offensive snaps we had.

He's the one coaching the kids that run to the end of their route, then stand there. He's the one coaching the kids that had the worst case of dropsies that I can remember.

How many catches did they have in those 21 passes?

When you 0-for, EVERYONE is on the chopping block.

I agree. Too many seasons where our WRs seemed completely ineffective, and that seems unacceptable given the talent on the roster. I see young WRs on other teams who seem to get open and make plays. Of course, JT not having time to throw didn't help matters...

What he did at BC was the stuff of legends. Ask BC fan(s) how bad he is missed.
You people need to judge based on historical norms not in absolutes.

As I've mentioned before if it was a clown show it is now the ICP. It is worse now than when he got here.
We just completed his 5th year as wr coach we should NOT be back to clown show status.
Who would you say is the best WR recruited by and coached by him.

If hired, he'd be a phenomenal pick....you couldn't do much better.

I agree about holding judgement.. I had not known any of his work other than the pros and he did a phenomenal job on Foles those first 2 years. I'm glad to hear some others know more about his experience and are pleased with the possible hire.
