Guards pour in points for OSU
Top 25 roundup
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
COLUMBUS - Greg Oden had a new look, and a couple of his teammates had a new approach.
Ohio State's point-guard tandem of Mike Conley Jr. and Jamar Butler showed they could do more than pass in leading the seventh-ranked Buckeyes past Northwestern 73-41 on Wednesday night.

NU Doesn't Belong With Ohio State

Abe Rakov

COLUMBUS, Ohio -

It's sad to say, but Northwestern didn't belong on the same court as THE Ohio State University last night.

It's a bad sign when the Kiss Cam was the most entertaining part of the second half, if not the game (although that might have been the t-shirt toss, when the crowd went as crazy as it did all game for a few cheap shirts. And there were the numerous dunks that also got the folks of Columbus fairly excited.).

Despite Low Stats, Oden Still 'Disrupts The Game' (Men's Basketball)

Nina Mandell
The Daily Northwestern

COLUMBUS, Ohio - It's not like they hadn't heard of Greg Oden.

The team watched the tapes, heard about the career-best game last week when he burned Tennessee for 24 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks. They knew he was considered a shoo-in for one of the top picks in the NBA Draft next year should he decide to go pro, even if his profile on the Ohio State athletic Web site says he's going to wait for graduation.

I missed the game, but heard they looked real sharp. I was real glad to read about Thad sticking to the zone, so we keep Oden underneath. He seemed to be wearing out so fast, but that was because he was chasing guards all over the floor. Also glad to see Conley start shooting the ball. He has had wide open shots all year, and seems like he either is afraid to shoot, or cant shoot, or whatever. I also remember Butler being like that though, once upon a time. I captured the game, so I will get to watch it later on today. We really needed a dominant performance, and some things to go right, just to get everything headed in the right direction.

I didn't get to watch but from what i read the BUcks won about like they were supposed to. BIG. I'm happy for them. Apparently they played well.
I always say " if you are supposed to have a blow out then you need to get it done.

My father got a chance to go to the locker room after the game and have a chat with Dan Peters. He told Peters how much he enjoys seeing us excute a good zone defense and Peters agreed. He said that Matta prefers man-to-man in general, but if the zone-D is clicking, we'll definitely keep seeing more of it.

He also got a chance to meet BJ Mullins and said the kid was courteous and a class act. Can't wait to see him in the future

Any thoughts on why Danny Peters wasn't in uniform last night? Titius got a couple minutes, but no Danny....

I am glad we finally put together a full game.

I know NWestern is that good, but it seemed like the press was much better and the zone was really good. I hope we keep using that zone as it keeps Oden back there where he needs to be.

I am also glad to see Conley start shooting the ball. I think that the lack of shots was hurting his confidence...

Also Lewis and Butler played well last nite.

I think we are on our way for a nice stretch just keep taking care of the ball and hitting shots and we will be staring Wisky right in the face for the Big Ten title on the 25th of Feb.
