All time best "low budget" movies.

Not sure how much das boat cost, but I am sure not much and that was a single set movie.

EDIT: I was way off. Fourty mil and at the time the most expensive German film ever made.

Another movie on the low budget lists provided is American Graffiti. I think it is more a full budget film, but certainly is a fantastic flick. Well worth seeing if you have not seen it. Directed by George Lucas and starring Richard Dryfuss, Ron Howard, Harrison Ford Wolfman Jack and a ton of other future stars. Great 1950's period piece.

I'd pick American Graffiti as the winner here. American Graffiti was released to universal critical acclaim and financial success, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Produced and marketed on a $775,000 budget, the film has turned out to be one of the most profitable movies of all time. Since its initial release, American Graffiti has garnered an estimated return of well over $200 million in box office gross and home video sales, not including merchandising. In 1995, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film culturally significant and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.

As with others, Pi was a movie that I really enjoyed. Being in the mathematics area, and having a long held belief that if one does too much mathematics the brain can snap (I still maintain I stopped just in time....others debate this), it had an appeal to me on different levels.

Eating Raoul was made on a budget of about $350,000. I really liked the dark humor aspect of the movie. I haven't seen it in a couple of years and may have to rent it.

Eating Raoul, god I have not seen that forever. It's on the Netflix cue now.

I am having a hard time finding an actual cost, I think it was between 500k and 1mm. Harold and Maude is one of my favorite Movies. Deff lower budget.

Weird. I just started watching that last night. I've been meaning to for years and Netflix has it available for streaming right now. Dark comedy + Cat Stevens soundtrack = win!
