For those updating to iOS 6... You may want to read up on Facebook Contact Syncing before you decide whether or not to link your account to your iPhone or iPad.

Facebook is using this as a way to load a shit ton of their facebook.com email addresses on to your device. These two articles explain how to keep your email addresses from being pulled into the phones of random pseudo-friends on facebook, and how to deal with all those useless email addresses on your own phone should you choose to sync yourself.

Got my shipped email from Apple this morning at 6:30am.

My phone has been sitting in Louisville, KY for the past 2 days. It says delivered by 10:30am on 9/21 :groove2:

Note: if you want to track your phone without the shipping email from apple do this...

1. Go to ups tracking
2. Click on track by reference number
3. Type in your billing phone number (or number you bought the phone for)

Any idea of how long it will be until these are available by going into a store? I'm in a contract with Sprint, but I am looking to buy out and (finally) get an iPhone. I'm sure it is crazy for the first week or so, but I'm curious to know if it settles down after the initial wave of buyers went through.

My guess, could be a month or more...ordering from Apple now has a 3-4 week ship date, and my guess is that stores will not have inventory coming in often

It does settle down after a while, but it probably takes longer for that to happen if it's a major update like this one. Plus, demand picks back up for the holidays. It'll be interesting to see how it works out. I could see things coming back in stock, but I could also imagine demand not really tapering off between now and the new year.

I know shipping times have been climbing for people who order online. While there's a chance that you'll be able to catch it in stock at a physical store, there's also a chance that you end up looking around at stores for longer than it would have taken to have it shipped to you.

Had an iPhone related question. I'm due for an upgrade from my iPhone 4 and plan on getting the new iPhone 5 here in October. My question is this. This phone is a Verizon iPhone 4 and would like to give it to my gf, but she is on Sprint. Is it even possible to put a Verizon iPhone on the Sprint network?

Not that I know of.

CDMA phones can't be unlocked like GSM phones can.

Well, I mainly want to switch to Verizon since (based on my limited research) their LTE network is far superior to Sprint's. As far as I can tell, Sprint doesn't have LTE coverage anywhere close to Columbus now.

Makes sense.

I know some people also buy out of their contracts when a carrier won't let them upgrade because it's cheaper than paying full retail for the phone.

Depends on how impatient you are for 4G. Sprint is aggressively expanding. I don't know when Cbus is on plan, but even if it's a year away, 3G speeds for now with unlimited data may be worth it. Having said that, VZW's 4G is fantastic and stable; if you are comfortable with a tiered data plan, you may not care.
