Game Thread BCS Championship Game, tOSU vs. Florida - Jan 8th

I seem to remember that Florida got scorched by Nebraska, and more recently Oklahoma got scorched by USC. OK, add the Buckeyes to that list. Totally agree with the poster who said we'd suffer recruiting losses because of HOW we lost rather than the score. All a matter of perception, and the perception is that we couldn't make adjustments, and heck, we turned Leak into an All-American in one game!

Gonzo (and Ginn and Pitt) will leave because next year they won't have the team to help them excel, and they're at the top of their game. Either Boeckmen or Schoenhoft will be 'new', and the ball will be alittle high, or behind them, rather than right there with the laces up. And without the passing game to loosen things up, defenses will load up nine in the box again, nullifying Pittman's advantage. Yeah, it makes sense.

Like they said in "Platoon" ---'take the pain'. Yes, the Buckeye nation will rise again, and methinks within 3 years we'll be in the hunt for a NC. Another tip, look at the recruiting board that Mili and OH8 generate. We're stacked at every position except DL. Thin, but serviceable, and next year we'll (hopefully) replenish the OL (and DL).

What did they say about Woody? Insufferable in victory, indominable (sp?) in defeat. Let's live like Woody talked. (That one's for you Dubs!)

Looks like he punched Tebow twice in the head. Then, he either kicked Tebow twice or Tebow (after being punched) grabbed a leg and Terry tried to shake free.

Like I said, I can't really tell what happened. If you are right, then Terry deserves some kind of punishment...I'm not sure we'll ever know about it though. The season is over and I would expect punishment, if any, would happen during spring ball...

Go Bucks from Go Blue

Now many of you will consider this odd .... very odd. Just wanted to log on and say congrats on a fine season - again. Maybe it is my age - but while loving Michigan football - I just refuse to live and die by it any more.

I can imagine how things are in Buckeye Nation right now - and just wanted to share a few thoughts with you all. Don't let this get you down. I refuse to get caught up in football is life now. Lately, instead of arguing with others about our tradition and how others just pale (inc. ND LOL) in comparison - I have learned to love college football in general. Everybody has tradition(s) that I enjoy. I like the beginning of USC fight song, I really enjoy Script Ohio, Rockytop is amusing, the list goes on and on.

These type of losses are going to happen. Doesn't change a damn thing. I know when Michigan State beats us - no matter how bad their football program has been - all is well for them for one year. Totally fascinating. One victory heals all wounds.

Wish you all well (but not too well) - and am saying get over it. You've got great tradition down there - this does not diminish it what-so-ever.

Looking forward to next year. See you in Ann Arbor.

OSU gets big bucks for BCS
By Travis Minnear, The Lantern
January 12, 2007

(U-WIRE) COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Nothing can erase Ohio State's loss in the BCS National Championship game, but a hefty chunk of change to finance the Department of Athletics might soothe the pain. According to the BCS, OSU and the University of Florida will each receive between $14 million and $17 million for being in the National Championship game. Unfortunately, OSU won't get to keep all the money -- it must be shared with the other 10 teams in the Big Ten Conference.

Very nice first post...welcome aboard. We enjoy "outsider" fans--including fans from "up north"--when they don't talk trash and just like to talk football (and other sports). We have quite a few such visitors here, and we even have a USC fan (methomps) as one of our moderators believe it or not. Keep posting as you have in your first post, and you'll be a welcome member here.

I, too, am looking forward to The Game up north this upcoming season...who knows what national stakes will be involved.

I've been reading this thread and came here to see what the other side thought of the game. Florida was getting no love in the press since this matchup was advertised.

I figured I'd see the same here. I did but it was more of a fun ra ra spirit bias type that we all have for our favorite team.

I read the whole thread of posts talking about the game. I was shocked to see such grace and class from you guys. Not because I wouldn't expect it from this forum but because I can't ever remember seeing fans on a forum after a loss act so maturely. Obviously, it's not easy to give credit to Florida and I expected a bunch of "OSU would have won if..." comments or getting down on your team. There was little of that and a whole lot of giving kudos and credit to Florida and Urban for a good game.

The Admins and Mods must be doing something right here and have to be proud of this great community they've created and manage. The members here are great! I'm looking for the right thing to say here to compliment but I honestly have to say that I am shocked and at a loss for words.

I know it's hard for the Buckeyes to lose like that, especially the senior class, and they may not be proud of how they have to go out but they have done a lot for themselves and the University to be proud of when all is said and done.

I know one thing for sure...If they could se these posts in this GDT they sure would be proud they have the fans they do.

I'm a lifelong Gator fan but we do have something in common. I may live in Michigan but I hate the Wolverines with a passion. As much or more as a lot of you.

I hope noone thinks I'm here to troll or bring this up, I wasn't even planning on posting and I wouldn't have posted if this thread wasn't posted to today. But I just had to register and congratulate you guys as you did the Gators.

Ohio State has every reason to be proud for what they've done and their history. So do their fans.

Good luck next year and kick the Wolvie's azzes for me so my friends can't have scoreboard on me!

NEW-I also want to mention that I tried saying this Tuesday and I registered as Gatorbait. I was banned while I was typing this post and found that out after I hit the submit button. lol Gatorbait is what I use everywhere and it had nothing to do with tOSU or the game that was just played.

Clarity and I exchanged a couple emails and he/she was kind enough to give me the benefit of the doubt. Class act, imo.

Well, I'm not here to start anything. If I had seen more than 3 people pick Florida I wouldn't have added that part. I live in Michigan and Big10 country. Most people around here thought/still think Michigan is the #1 team in the nation.

Anyways, I hope one sentence can be overlooked if it's disagreed with.

My condolences go out to you for having to live in that hole of a state. :tongue2: But if you watch any ESPN you saw more than half the analysts pick Florida.

Hey Now! I love the state of Michigan...I just hate the Wolverines and wish for them to lose every game.

I seriously didn't see more people pick Florida than OSU. I was trying to be sincere in my original post.

Good luck to tOSU next year. You'll be back. Too many great players and a class school for anyone to think otherwise.

Tux, good to have you aboard. This board is different than most any other board out there. We are Buckeyes obviously, but we are also college football fans. We know an ass whooping when we see one. There is no reason to take anything away from what the Gators accomplished. Not only did you get through that brutal SEC schedule, you made a very good tOSU team look bad in the biggest game of the year. Be proud of your team. You deserve it no doubt...

Autopsy results are in on title game
Sunday, January 14, 2007

Apparently, Ohio State plays well only in open-air stadiums in Arizona. After three wins in four years in the cool desert evenings of Sun Devil Stadium, the Buckeyes melted in the controlled climate of University of Phoenix Stadium. Certainly, that was the main reason why the Buckeyes lost, right? Dispatch beat reporters Tim May and Ken Gordon discuss some slightly more plausible factors in the loss Monday night:
