Obviously I want to see the Buckeyes back in the NC game. But with that being said, there would be something truly cool about seeing two non-elite programs (Mizzou and WVU) playing for all the marbles.
well the tv ratings would be cool to frozen for sure!

Oh the irony of a 2 loss VaTech team being ranked ahead of the same 2 loss LSU team that beat them head-to-head 48-7.

On a separate note, if anyone wants to talk about backdooring into the title game, how about a 2 loss Georgia team getting into the National Title Game by avoiding LSU because they couldn't even make it into the SECCG? That would be a huge shot in the balls for all those SEC fans whose seven word vocabulary is "SEC fast, Big 10 slow, championship game."

Vt is a better team than when they lost to LSU. They figured out their offensive problems and had some injured guys come back and contribute. LSU has diminished and struggled during the same period. It also helps that LSU just lost against an unranked team while VT lost a month ago against then #2 now #12 BC.

In a sport when the only way that we can compare teams effectively is when they play head-to-head, you are completely disregarding the head-to-head demolishing that LSU put on VT, and are going to say that BC (still overrated) is a better loss than Arkansas (I would argue this but ok) and that means that VT is better than LSU.

VT may indeed be a better team when they played LSU, and LSU could very well be a worse team. But there isn't so much evidence either way that the voters can completely ignore the fact that LSU destroyed VT head-to-head.

It may not make sense that VTech is now ahead of LSU, and I don't think they've improved enough to beat LSU. BUT it is awful funny that most people's "most talented team in America" and the poster child for SEC dominance is behind a team from the ACC that they rolled:slappy:

But I'm sure that it will be pointed out that the SEC is so good that their highest rated team did not even make their Championship game (maybe they should have a three way):tongue2:

At this point I'll take my chances with WVA - OSU in the Sugar... again, neutral field. Methomps desenting voice excepted, I don't think anyone really believes the Rose Bowl is a neutral site for a Big 10 team. Bring Pete Carrol and the Trojans to Soldier Field. A little reverse discrimination is good for the soul.

It's pretty easy to "solve" your problems when you play in the pitiful ACC.

I tend to agree and think LSU should be above them but I dont think VT would lose badly to them if they played tomorrow.

I'd watch.

As with earlier, some mock BCS matchups to peruse based on the latest standings. Methodology - highest ranked team in conference is considered conference champ for these purposes. Simple. Again - not predictions, just a fun (for me) what-if game. Selection order is Fiesta - Orange - Fiesta - Sugar.

Title Game: Missouri vs. West Virginia
Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs. USC
Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs. Hawaii
Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. Oklahoma
Fiesta Bowl: Kansas vs. LSU

WOW let the Buckeye bashing begin. Anyone watching any of the late coverage tonight with Scott Van Pelt talking with Herbstreit or Mark May saying we're not deserving because we don't play a conference championship game. What will they be saying if we actually get to Nat'l Championship game?

When it comes to the Harris poll, Herbstreit could have some influence as well. It's too bad he doesn't back the Buckeyes. At Thanksgiving I was talking to a relative who dropped "even Herbstreit doesn't think the Buckeyes belong in the title game". I'm not sure if Kirk actually feels this way, has an agenda against the Bucks, or is just trying so hard not to be Buckeye biased he spews this crap, but it's pretty frustrating. He's one of our biggest alumns in the public eye, and states on national TV during the Kansas-Missouri game, he'd rather see the Buckeyes in the Rose BVowl than the national title game. I just don't really understand it.

Hey guys, quick theory:

-Ohio State plays USC in the Rose Bowl.
-Missouri plays WVU in the National Championship Game.

Let us say that Ohio State beats USC. Tough test to say the least. Over the last 6 years, USC has not lost a game by more than 7 points. Tons of depth. Game would probably get higher ratings than the actual National Championship Game. Point spread would be below a touchdown for whatever team is favored (Ohio State).

Missouri beats WVU by 20+ points, or vice versa.

What are the chances of Ohio State winning an AP National Title?
