BCS predictions/discussion/Knock Em' Off

It's simple, we aren't going to get caught from behind, nor are we going to catch WV or Mizzu if they win out...so we need either Pitt or Oklahoma to win next week, and we are in. If not, then we aren't. Even if WV looks bad, or Mizzu looks bad, and still wins, it won't be enough to help us.

Who would OSU face in the BCS game if OU wins against Mizzou and Pitt beats WVU (I know there is almost no chance of Pitt winning) Would UGA make it to the game if they finish 3rd in the SEC? Va Tech? just curious of thoughts

Actually if that did happen, I would not be surprised if we would play LSU. LSU right now is ranked 5th in the AP Poll and if they win the SEC it would be hard not to put LSU over Georgia since LSU did win the conference. But, I would think it would be between possibly Georgia, Virginia Tech, and LSU(depending on if they win the SEC Championship). That would be a tough choice for the voters and no one can really tell until the BCS Rankings are released anyways.

Oh the irony of a 2 loss VaTech team being ranked ahead of the same 2 loss LSU team that beat them head-to-head 48-7.

On a separate note, if anyone wants to talk about backdooring into the title game, how about a 2 loss Georgia team getting into the National Title Game by avoiding LSU because they couldn't even make it into the SECCG? That would be a huge shot in the balls for all those SEC fans whose seven word vocabulary is "SEC fast, Big 10 slow, championship game."

Any voter who would consider VaTech over LSU should absolutely not have a vote. Go rewatch the ESPN Saturday Night Football game from September 8 and then tell me which one of them is a better team. That wasn't even a game. We will forget about how inept VaTech's offense was in that game for a second- their vaunted defense gave up 600 yards of total offense to an offense that, for comparison, only had 400 yards against TULANE.

harris poll-

1 Missouri(57) 2779
2 WVU(45) 2753
3 OHIO STATE(11)2638
4 Georgia 2368
5 LSU 2215
6 Kansas 2170
7 VA Tech 2164
8 Oklahoma 2132
9 USC 2059
10 Hawaii(1) 1829
11Florida 1757
12 BC 1587
13 Arizona St. 1446
14 Illinois 1254
15 Tennessee 1249
16 Wisconsin 911
17 Texas 903
18 Clemson 897
19 Oregon 716
20 BYU 649
21 Cincinnati 512
22 Boise St. 493
23 Virginia 478
24 Auburn 402
25 South Flor. 249

1-3 gap is a difference of 141 compared to last weeks 299 so the gap in both usa today and harris have shrunk for Ohio State so once again if some coaches vote our way and the computers keep it close we could jump a team in a beauty contest to play for the title. If it keeps up on this pace it will be tighter than mallett's rear end starting in the Horseshoe next year.
:oh:

The only odball thing I can think of at this point, and I am in no way shape or form wishing for an injury to a kid, say WVU wins but White pulls a Dixon and is done for the year. I have to think that would hurt them in the pollsters eyes considering its for the NC. If they just struggle with Pitt I don't think it will sour the media enough but you never know.

When it comes down to zero hour and they actually have to cast that last vote for a Mizzou vs WVU game I still think there will be second thoughts. IMO its why they are keeping the SEC teams so high, the media/coaches are paying lip service to Mizzou and WVU but they aren't really sold. They want them both to slip imo so they can get LSU in there.

Personally I think UT will officially end the LSU thing and in so doing really put a dent in anyone arguing for UGA should both upsets happen. That outcome would benefit VT and OU considering they just beat #1 in that scenario.

In this crazy ass season nothing would be more fitting than #1 and #2 losing again on the last weekend of play. I don't think Pitt can play enough defense but then again, who knows this year.

I think we can stop thinking about anyone jumping us (eg LSU).

GO BUCKS!!!

We haven't had to worry about that since Thanksgiving night when ASU got rolled. I've been kind of suprised it was brought up as much as it has been here. Overall this board seems to understand the BCS pretty well and there is no way a 2 loss team is jumping a major 1 loss team unless its a week immediately following their one loss.
