Cavs 06-07 season thread

I think we need to win one of the first two. If we don't take one of those, I would hate our chances of winning all three games at home. I still don't get why we switch to the 2-3-2 format for the finals. It's one of the most non-sensical things in the NBA.

I I think Hughes will play much like he did in this series, but I think his problem is once he sits down it starts to tighten up, so he can really only start the game and maybe the 2nd half...
...
When they beat the Spurs during the regular season, Hughes scored 18 points in both of those games. Also, Gooden played against Duncan and not Z.

I would entertain abet about who is their starting PG next year. My money is on Gibson

I don't know if I would change the current lineup, but Gibson should get 30+ minutes a game. Ginobili doesn't start for the Spurs even though he is their 2nd or 3rd best player. I wouldn't mind seeing Gibson get a whole season as the 6th man before throwing him in as the starter.

As good as Gibson played, and he shot the hell out of the ball, I think he showed he IS NOT an NBA PG.....He struggled mightilty against defensive pressure, and it was like a hot potaeto in his hands to get it to another player when getting it up the court......Ginson can possibly spell someone at point, but it's not his natural position at the NBA level....he can work on it some, but he reminds me more of a Shammond Williams type....I'm defunately excited about his future

I agree about Gibson not being a natural PG, especially at the NBA level. I see the situation somewhat like this: The Cavs get a natural PG somehow this offseason (having made the finals, they will be an attractive destination for FA's and someplace people 'want' to be traded to) and play 3 people at two positions basically, with PGTBD at the 1, Sasha at the 2, and Gibson rotating between the two positions to spell them off the bench, similarly to how they run Gooden, Andy, and Z at the 4/5 position, with Z being the only 'true' 5.

Starting line-up next year would then look like:

1. PGTBD
2. Sasha/Larry
3. LB23
4. Gooden
5. Z

1/2 Sub. Boobie
4/5 Sub. Andy

That's a pretty solid line-up IMHO, especially when you consider it's basis around that guy at #3

ESPN - 2007 NBA Free Agent List

So who of the unrestricted guys on this list do you think the Cavs should go after? Noted they only have $5 mil to spend so a guy like Billups probably won't happen. Who would you be willing to give up to get your PG? I think their might be a FA out there that they can sign, but most of the improvement that we will see between this season and next will be with the guys already on the team like Gibson, Pavs, Varejao, and Brown.

AV and Sasha are also restricted FA's, so Cleveland will need to pay them as well. Does that $5 million take that into account?
