So crazy says Fellows to tOSU, wade says Fellows to Illinois, but crazy=wade=bkb. Ugh....I'm confused.

Just WOW!

Don't know what to say. Flabbergasted at the earliness and the high level of verbal recruits that Tress & Co are pulling in. This has got to be the "Golden Age of Buckeye Recruiting". Do any of the historians have records of OSU or anyone else with a string of high recruiting finishes as high as we have had and in all probability will have this year? I seem to recall that Florida State had a run of 4-5 top 5 recruiting finishes, and those were in the years when they played for three Nat Chmpnshps, winning one.

Too experienced to directly corrolate the recruiting (very subjective) to the National Championship finishes (very actual), but you can't win without the bodies....and we all know that a 5* does not equal an all-american on the field (witness Jenkins, Laurinaitis, both 3*s), or injuries (DeAndrea etc.).

Still, am very happy to be part (albeit distant) of the OSU resurgence (OSU 6 - UM 1) during Tress's coaching reign. Never gonna forget Woody, but when do they start the Tress statue? After he wins BCS #2 in 2008 (actually 2009)?

You don't even have to go back that far. Look at USC since Carroll's been there.

You're dead on. Right down the street from me and it went over my head, or at least around it.......Petey has been doing that quite well for the last several years. Thanks Oregon.

Instead of a list, I'll post this. We already have 12 commits so:
The mark is 24-25 but you will still some some quality players get left out. Your sure bets:
OL Marcus Hall
DE Jonathan Newsome
OL Corey Linsley
FB Zach Boren
-That's 16
Very likely:
ATH Brandon McGee
S Vlad Emilien
WR James Jackson
ATH EJ Banks
HB Jamaal Berry
-That's 21
On the edge:
DE Pat Muldoon (does he commit in time?)
DB DJ Hunter (does he commit in time?)
WR Duron Carter (us or LSU?)
DT Corey Adams (does he visit?)
Chris Watt (OSU or ND? Does he get in in time?)
TE Reid Fragel (OSU or MSU? Does he get in in time?)
HB Carlos Hyde (Us or Florida teams? Does he get in on time)
ATH Victor Marc (Does he get offered?)
OL Chris Freeman (Does he get offered?)
ATH Corey Brown (Does he get offered?)
DE Tank Carridine (Grades? Offer?)
DE Anthony Lalota(TE? Interest?)
- Seems as if we have a pretty darn good idea what this class will look like but it will be interesting to see who we round out the class with. I see us getting all of "the very likely" which would bring us to 21. Then to finish off, I see us getting Muldoon, Hunter, Fragel, Watt, and Adams to make 25. That's my story and I'm sticking to it (until next week anyways ).

Muldoon + Hunter + Fragel + Watt + Adams = 5 + 21 = 26???

Just poking a little fun at RB's math...

But, you really think Tressel will take that many? I knew he could take extra for early enrollee's sake, but it seems out of character. I guess its a good problem to have that this many dynamic players want to play for the Buckeyes. I'm trying to figure out 6 DBs from the same class get on the field. But how in the world would you choose. Its just insane.

Any chance down the road this develops into a situation where you see more transfers, kind of like USC losing a player like Moody? He wasn't good enough to tote the rock too often for the men of Troy but he has every opportunity to be the starter for a team the caliber of Florida.

Personally, I don't think that's a bad thing at all. You get to bring in a handful of uber-talented players at each position, have the chance to evaluate them all under a microscope during practices and games, then pick which one's you think will be able to help the team more. They leave the team, not on bad terms, but for better opportunities elsewhere, and you get to bring in a large class the next year.

I try not to look at the negatives of having such great recruiting classes. Bring in the best players possible and the guy with the best combination of talent and work ethic is going to play. Plain and simple.

And yes, I think the number for this year could reach as many as 26, with several early enrollees applying towards last year's count. My projection for this class is 26 as of right now:

RB: Berry
RB: Hall
FB: Boren
FB: Homan
WR: Jackson
WR: Fields
WR: Carter
TE: Fragel
OL: Linsley
OL: Mewhort
OL: Hall
OL: Watt
DE: Fellows
DE: Newsome
DT: Muldoon
DT: Simon
LB: Bell
LB: Whiting
LB: Klein
CB: Givens
CB: Barnett
CB: McGee
S: Hunter
S: Emilien
S: Wood
ATH: Banks or Marc

Do you think we only take three oline this year since Boren will be coming in? I just really want to figure out a way Carradine gets into this class, so I'm think Watt isn't in this class.

That might just be me though.

Our defensive back class is going to be sick no matter who ends up in it. Four and five stars across the board, all with great offer lists.

Obviously that's possible...I would say the guys we know the least about or at least haven't heard something to make me think they are all but leans so far would be Linsley (Stanford?), Watt (ND?), Banks (anywhere?), Hunter (Indiana?) and Jackson (Jackson). Granted we haerd some positive stuff about Linsley, Banks, Watt and Jackson (Hunter is a big of an enigma) but I just have my own take on the situation based on the info I have gathered. Not to say OSU isn't in great shape with each one of them, but those are the guys that I could see going elsewhere. The rest of the uncommitted recruits (Berry, Boren, McGee, Emilien, Hall, Newsome, Muldoon, Carter, Fragel) I feel VERY good about...

I don't care who, how or what USC, 'Bama, LSU, Texas, Fla, scUM, the domers or anybody else pulls in, if we get all of these mules on 45's list, we are at the top of the heap, imo, based on '09 talent levels, need, and future recruiting markets. Furthermore, when I saw Fellows on his most recent lists, I figured the climate inside must have changed regarding his commitment to the Zookster...and it did, obviously, soooooo, per 45, I gotta figure some strong winds are movin' in directions favorable as well for a lot of the other highly touted recruits...whoopie!! This will be exciting beyond even last year. Somehow, though, in the end, I think Corey Brown will be on this list...that's a good thing in my mind. We'll see.
