Niners trade up to 3 and Dolphins back to 6. Not sure if that is good news for Sewell being there for us or not.

I would say it’s really good news considering the amount of money San Fran dropped on Trent Williams, and they already have a solid RT in Mike McGlinchey. Have to think the 49ers moved up to draft a QB to replace Garropolo, but also allow that QB a season to learn the system and acclimate to the pro game.
The only thing I would be worried about is if the Dolphins move back up to the 4th spot with the surplus of picks they just got making these trades, but I’m not sure that would be very likely.

Makes sense, I thought SF was solid at OT. Miami seemed most likely to take Sewell. Might be 3 QBs to start, combo of Lawrence, Wilson and Fields, then it would be curious to see what the Falcons do... not idea what their situation is at OT. Either way, that trade is going to make the top 10 picks wildly entertaining to watch.

I think there’s a very real possibility that Atlanta takes a QB as well. They’d be smart to get ahead of it since Matt Ryan isn’t getting any younger. Especially in a year with 5 starter quality QBs near the top of the draft board.

I entertained that thought too... it could happen, but 4 straight QBs seems unlikely even with the stacked position.

Alright then, since you all asked, here is my one and only Bengals mock draft:
1st Round: OL Pennei Sewell (obvious pick if he's there imo, franchise LT...I think he'll be there after the SF trade with Miami... if not, Pitts might be the guy)
2nd Round: WR Rashod Bateman (seeing Bateman available in the 2nd and I say pounce if he's there to team up with Boyd and Higgins... might be some intriguing LBs or DEs there depending on the 1st round, but we mostly addressed defense in FA... if we go WR there, Rondale Moore is an intriguing slot prospect, as is Terrance Marshall)
3rd Round: TE Brevin Jordan (yes, we go offense again and get a play making TE, we need one for Burrow...I view Jordan as a poor man's Pitts, although perhaps the top of the 3rd is too high)
4th Round: DL Marvin Wilson (at some point we need a young DT to start rotating in the mix... if we don't decide to sign Atkins, this pick might come in the 3rd but I seea lot of DTs that have high upside potentially here like Tyler Shelvin, Jay Tufele, etc. that could fall to the 4th and be a huge value pick)
5th Round: OL Tommy Kraemer (need more depth in the interior OL, could be a late steal)
6th round: LB Tuf Borland (gotta pick one Buckeye right? LB should improve with Wilson and ADG having a year under their belts and Pratt coming along, but it's far from our best unit...a LB pick could come earlier)
7th Round: WR Whop Phylor (could be gone by now but great receiver and I think grabbing two in the Draft is ideal)
- Overall I think this will be a very heavy offensive draft with the FA pickups on defense. Not sure we go without picking a DE, but I do think more picks are allocated to offense and I'd bet on at least two OL picks in the first 4-5 picks. Open to criticism though!

Disappointing to see we released Bernard, still think he has plenty in the tank and loved watching him in Cincy. Must really like Perine but I imagine we'll be drafting a RB at some point now.

between his salary and Mixon’s that was a lot of money tied up to a position group that in todays NFL is archaic to pay that much for. hate to see Gio go because he’s a world class citizen but it was the right move. hopefully getting let go before the draft allows him to find solid work with a new team.

I’m beginning to lean more towards Team Chase with the 5th pick. This is an unbelievably deep draft for tackles and guards. So much so, that I think some very solid options will be available with the 2nd round pick. On the flip side, I don’t think there will be nearly the WR talent available in the second as there will be Tackles. I’m heavily leaning toward Samuel Cosmi or Alex Leatherwood, both of which graded VERY nicely (better than Sewell, even) in RAS scores. Spencer Brown out of Northern Iowa graded out very nicely as well, too. One of those three should easily be available in the 2nd.
Kyle Pitts will be a phenomenal pro as well, I’m just not sure you can pass up on your chance to right your wrong of drafting John Ross a few years ago, and should still have a strong opportunity to continue to bolster the OL in rounds 2 and 3.
That being said, I’ll still be absolutely thrilled if they draft Sewell.

As much of a bummer as it is, he was getting paid an awful lot of money to be a backup. The Bengals asked him to take a pay cut and he requested his release instead. As much as I enjoyed him, I’m not sure it’s very justifiable to pay a backup $5m/year.

I am team Sewell all the way. Yes there will be good OL in round 2. but you can’t pass on a generational talent like Sewell if he’s in front of you. I truly believe he will be a perennial all pro and a top tackle in the NFL from the day he starts. i just do not value another WR right now as much as you need to build up front.
