Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

They're bound to get it right this time, yeah?

just saw their schedule for next year....not the dates but the opponents....their only winnable games are Tennessee and maybe Miami, and I think both of those teams will be better next year.

0-16 is a legitimate possibility.

No way that'd mean they got the #1 overall pick.

I've suddenly had a flashback to the Major League movie. Maybe there is method to the madness after all. What if this is all a plot to create a situation where they can move the team to a climate the owner's wife prefers?

It's not frigid enough in Ohio?

Just for reference from the 2014 Browns thread on the Johnny Foosball pick..

I just want to drop kick this kid right in the face. Hindsight makes the collective conscious of this board even 'more' right than what we were 2 years ago.
I won't be around in 2 years? Says who? Sorry Mike, but you can also kiss my ass.

this whole move will either be a colossal failure or a major success. of course, maybe the browns aren't in this position if haslam doesn't pull rank and fofce the manziel pick after the little ogre of a qb coach went running to him with a text message.

I cracked a Moneyball joke after I heard Sashi and his position in the organization.

Little did I suspect Haslam would attempt to recreate the whole god damn movie.
I do not know how much you know about Brown but I assume quite a bit. Saying that, he is very highly respected by the guys who cover the Browns. He does not have an ego and is a very good listener. He brings people together which is sorely needed in this "organization". According to what I have heard, he knows his place and will not try to bring in his friends like Farmer did.

Not sure how Moneyball works in football unless there's an analytic to weed out heartless combine stars like Gilbert. I can't say I hate this move, but we'll see how it goes. I'm guessing DePodesta is bored with baseball and wants to test himself in a different sport because I can't think of any other reason to join this dumpster fire. Still holding out hope for Dennis Leary as coach. At least he'd give a good expletive filled post game interview.

This. The Mike Mamulas of the world sure look good on paper. Plus, if you have your money/revenue guy making roster and draft decisions, they would be more likely to take Johnny Idiotface, not less. I agree, I don't hate it, but...I wouldn't be surprised to see this little experiment produce 8-56 over the next 4 seasons either.
