Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

That's the thing though. Next year's draft is loaded with PFs. And its already the most saturated position in basketball. So why waste this year's #4 pick on someone that wouldn't even be in the top 10 of next year's draft that's full of talent at the same position?

Instead, they're left with NEEDING to pick up one of those guys you mentioned. (although Rivers is more of a combo guard than a shooting guard, so his talents overlap with Irving)

This type of player reminds me of Darnell Jackson but a worse free throw shooter.

Not to be a pain...

But we're comparing him to a guy who was off the board.

Maybe we should be talking about guys they should have taken instead and then, maybe I'd be worried about it.

I mean... Kanter is off the board... then a bunch of pg's.
I think Thompson was a good pick. Sure, he has a ways to go but the potential is there.

Really wish they would have went:

1. Derrick Williams
1. Kemba Walker
2. Justin Harper
2. David Lighty.

With D. Will, you have a guy who can play 3/4. I think Kemba is the best PG in the draft, the dude is a killer (Hi, Lebron). So with those 2 guys, you have a mismatch with Williams every time up the court. And both of them can create their own shot, something the Cavs flat out do not have. Justin Harper could've grown to be a good role player and come off the bench next year for a phenomenal PF (I really like Perry Jones; Sully, Henson). And David Lighty, hometown kid of course, and a wing player that could be great coming off the bench.

Only time will tell if we really screwed up this draft like I think we did, but I'm optimistic about Irving and Thompson, so we'll see.

But hey, fuck me right?

Interesting the Grant used the phrase "Right kind of humans" twice in his presser to describe Irving and Thompson. It sounds as though they put alot of stock into how players performed during their interviews.

He thinks they'll both play very well together in the future. Sounded as though the prospect of waiting for Jonas to arrive, then to mature was something they could not wait for.

My view is that their feeling on TT is that he will develop a shot to go with all the defensive intangibles that he has: hustle, smart, shot blocker, plays above the rim, great defender, rebounder.

He's nothing at all like Darnell Jackson, who ever mentioned that name.

Really, what others options were available ? If Hollinger had this guy at #3, thats not too bad.

agree...if anything we should be comparing thompson with Jonas V. or Jan Veesley...obviously williams is the better prospect because he went #2 overall...thompson and irving both seem like great kids...glad to have them here in cleveland

Great move by Cavs FO. Especially if pick is for 2012. Tristan now has the runway to start at PF.

The pick is 2012 Lotto protected...if the Kings make playoffs next year (they won't) Cavs would get pick. If it's in lottery, the pick rolls into 2013. Still waiting on if 2013 pick is protected. Hopefully not....

well that blows ass... i think we could have gotten something better if there was going to be a season... don't like this lotto protected shit...
