Yeah. At this point the small market owners are holding all of the chips. If they do not get some sort of franchise tag option or a real salary cap, there will not be basketball next season... And it is all lebrons fault!

Until the owners of the large market teams agree to some type of revenue sharing that keeps small market teams happy as they suck.

I hope owners like Dan Gilbert take the NBA Players Association to the cleaners, but I'll believe it when I see it.

For every Dan Gilbert out there, there is a Michael Jordan who gives away Tyson Chandler and is willing to drop out of the playoffs this year to save money.

It's embarrassing.

Never, and I mean never, have I sided with ownership as strongly as I would this time. Again, the best chance at "saving" this pathetic excuse of a league.

One year would be long enough to show certain elements of the league ("superstars") that they aren't really missed much at all.

In the sense that Irma LeDouche really drove home the AAU mentality to this joke of a league.

For the record, I am 46 which means that I am old enough to remember when the NBA was an enjoyable league to watch, decent basketball was played (some actually exhibited the team concept), and the players did not believe they were bigger than the league. I still wasn't a huge fan of the NBA at that time....it was more of something to watch between football season and baseball season. But at least it was watchable unlike today's version.

i hate hockey...so to each his own....there very well may be a NBA lockout but i highly doubt NHL hockey will be on TNT...there is a reason its on the VS channel

spending money as an owner is a secondary issue. under the current trends, there are only about 5 teams that can attract superstars and retain them. just about every nba team lost money last year. revenue sharing isn't even in the realm of discussion. basically, the end of the cba came at the worst possible time for the players' union and the handful of big market teams that can thrive in the current environment.

there is basically going to be a hard cap and franchise tag option or no basketball for the immediate future.

i think a franchise tag in the NBA is crucial...it would prevent the miami's, and NYK's of the NBA from getting an all star team and keep things competitive...its why the NFL is the most popular sport and the most popular its been because even small market teams can be competitive...obviously there will still be free agency and things for small market teams to contend with but it at least gives a franchise like Cleveland a chance to survive in the NBA...crazy that both the NFL and NBA could possibly be locked out at the same time
