DT Garrett "The Gladiator" Goebel (official thread)

Sounds good to me...

I just think he fits in better here. Seems like a "no-nonsense" all-business type of kid. We blue-collar Ohioans love that. And we need DTs a lot more that TSUN does.

Tough decision. Hope it goes our way. Seems like a model kind of man we want on this team from what I have read.

:oh:

Says he "loves" everything about um, including the stadium, coaches and academics. Obviously he's never been to OSU and um for a game. The stadiums are not comparable on game day and OSU's facilities are much better than um's. I'm not even sure realistic um fans could argue those points.

um's staff likely won't change too much as long as Lloyd's replacement is hired from within. Bob Kemp, who many of you longtime sports radio listeners know, had a um beat writer on his show last week who said Lloyd will retire after this season. I don't think it's a matter of if he loses to OSU again or not. Just sounds like it's that time for him.

I guess um didn't allow Jim Harbaugh to talk to recruits about academics.

A while back when Garrett said his decision would be based on the type of people within the program I thought he was a lock to OSU. Tressel and the staff at OSU are first class human beings. I hope that's what this decision still comes down to in the end. If that's the case, this isn't even close --it's OSU all the way.

Go Bucks!!!

You should take a look at this thread before saying that. Goebel has two great coaches and schools to choose from.

Carr is not respected around the country the way Tressel is and I've never hear anyone talking about Carr's Christian values the way people talk about Tressel. That's not to say that Carr isn't a great Christian, it's just not what he's known for the way Tressel is.

Go Bucks!!!

michigan has made up a lot of ground for him..which is not what i personally like to see..hopefully he picks osu...but from all indications and things i have read it really is now a toss up between the two...but i like the fact he has good people around him helping him sort it out...that is always a plus

True...but if it is about the people...I wonder how much weight he gives the possibility that the staff at UM could be looking MUCH different in a few years than the people that he likes who are there now.

LC might not be in his last season, but I don't think he has 5 or 6 more in front of him..so if Goebel goes to UM he won't finish with the same staff he will start with.

Yes, it's time to start panicking. Go panic like a mad-man, and see how that works out.

Exactly...deja vu...same story as last February. What was that kids name? Folks, life will go on whether one kid picks Columbus or not. I hope GG decides to come here, he seems like a great kid, but I'm hardly panicking at the thought of life without him. JT and the staff will fill the holes and we will be OK. What's that saying? Oh yeah..."trust the coaches". I can guarantee you there are contingency plans if, God forbid, we don't get this one.
