On top of that, I never felt the recent Fallout stories were depressing. The original, sure. Yet that was great IMO. Honestly, I actually enjoy a depressing ending to a well written, sad story. It fits. That is how tragedies end. The original Fallout was a masterpiece in it's time.

Although I hope the dungeons, caves, etc. have a little more variety in Skyrim.
