Game Thread Game Five: Penn State 17, Ohio State 10 (Final)

For NFL and College football, Sirius Sat might be a better option. Sirius will be coming out with a hand held unit before Christmas. XM does not carry the NFL!
i found out the hard way that you may or may not get to listen to the bucks even if you do have xm/sirius. with that cut away to oklahoma/tcu debacle that abc/directv did i pulled out my xm radio expecting to be able to listen to the second half of the game. they only have 3 channels of big ten on and OSU wasnt on any of them. i have no idea who decides which games are being broadcast that day but you dont get them all and may not be able to get penn st vs osu anyways :( ....i did listen to the rest of the game on webcast though

I disagree......it will not be a big test because Penn State will not be able to run the ball like they did today against our defense, its the same Minnesota like every other year. Penn State looked good but it will not be enough against OSU next Saturday night.

i don't see penn state putting up anything close to 364 yards against ohio state. osu will most likely force robinson to put the ball in the air, and in the air on the run, which may very well lead to him passing the pigskin straight to our defenders... something robinson has a knack for doing. robinson also likes to put the ball on the ground.

penn state historically gives osu a run for its money, regardless of penn state's expected ability. i don't see any reason why this year will be different. playing in happy valley is rarely easy, and the crowd will be treating this game as the biggest one of the year.

if smith can keep the ball out of the defenders hands and off of the ground, i don't see how penn state can score enough to beat us. our offense is progressing, though i don't know if the game against iowa is a clear indication that osu has completely upgraded its offense. i do expect, however, that smith will have an even better game against penn state than he did against iowa, and i'm not even talking about his limiting the turnovers. the learning curve from sdsu to iowa was so pronounced that i bet tressel will have smith even more focused for next week"s game. two weeks is a long time for smith to gain better focus.

heck, i think that today's blowout against minnesota is a GOOD thing for ohio state. tressel and staff now have a better understanding of what penn state can do.

We just have to get past this whole bye-week hangover problem JT has had and go smack the shit out of PSU.

The last two times at Penn State, we've really played down to their level. But if this team is as special as I think it is, we should not have much of a problem. I'm saying 28-10.

This one is just so difficult to judge. On the one hand we should just absolutely bitch slap PSU no matter where or when we play but otoh we alwyas struggle there, we have the whole post bye week bad game thing going and to make it worse we'll probably be favored.

Every intangible known to the football God's is on the side of PSU for this one, all we have is the better team. Lets hope that's enough.

Minnesota couldnt even tie their shoes on their own today, they made PSU look alot better than they really are. Lets say you shut down Maroney, then who else on that offense will beat you? No one, and Minny has always been soft defensively...

This game scares me quite a bit. I think the fact that Penn St. is undefeated actually helps us this week, as weird as that sounds... I say that because they play us much better when they are underdogs, and seem to sneak up on us a bit. Eventually the streak of losing the road opener at night has to end, this week will end that streak. I think this game will be a nailbiter though, call it a hunch.

I used to think that scUM fans were the worst, that was before i ventured over to the PSU rival board.

I guess I missed the memo that our linebackers are overrated, and that their linebacking core are the best in the country. We dont have a chance, we are 3-1 and they are 5-0!!!

Give me a break, the only reason that PSU will be even remotely in this game is because of the home crowd...

OSU wins this one handily, look out for my prediction later in the week...

I think that helps in the sense that the fans and maybe the players may be a little too confident at this point. Happy Valley is always a tough place to play, but I like the fact they are undefeated at this point and may actually have more pressure on them.

That extra week sure came at the right time for us.
