Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Sad that 66% of Buckeye fans are morons with no appreciation for tradition.

My neighbors watched the rest of the game after the Hawaii game was over, and their first comment was "Why are they wearing black?" After explaining that Ohio State caved into the recent fad of virtually everyone wearing a black alternate uniform, they then made comments about "Where's the gray?" and "It would look better with those silver pants and helmets". Even my local Hawaiian neighbors knew better than some on this board...

The current players liked them. That's better than any random poll or hearing from random neighbors.

Ignoring the fact that "silver" is not one of the Buckeyes' colors.

Oh snap! But the traditionalists keep telling me that they preferred to use the official school colors.

So ALL the players like them? How can you possibly know that?

I understand your point but what I can say is that any current player who has mentioned the uniforms has had nothing but positive things to say about wearing them. That still means a lot more to me than 'get off my lawn' and 'my neighbors said' arguments.

If you can show us that many of the players disagreed then I will re-evaluate.

I've said this before- I agree with Josh Winslow.
Nike has a really dark grey they call "anthracite". They could have done that and still stayed within the Ohio State color scheme and had OSU uniforms rather than Black Nike Uniforms with Ohio State branding on it.
Heck the team's already been wearing anthracite this year- and it looks like the color on the matte black helmets last night:

Oh god, are you ok? Are they? I had no idea.

Closer to gray than either black or white. Better tell the equipment manager to quit painting the helmets in silver metal flake...
I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of the "tradition" crowd.

The tradition of Ohio State football when I was young was to change uniforms every couple of years. As a result, I'm bemused by 30-something types who fail to understand that Buckeye tradition has little to do with uniforms, and everything to do with excellence.
