There is nothing I dislike about Joe . He is good for Baseball, good for the Yankees and good for the fans. If this is his swan song then so be it but he will always be remembered.

Well, I see this from another perspective, having one of those "hated teams" here in LA, the Lakers, we have grown pretty used to being deep in the hunt every year, and whether it's being selfish or what, anything less than a western conference championship feels like the team, owners, and coaches under-achieved. I know it sounds stupid, but it's something the fans have grown to expect. Whether it's right or fair, or what, doesn't matter, the fans pay to go see a team that's supposed to be champions. The Lakers, however, don't have near the payroll of the Yankees, so you compound the complaints here in LA times five and there you have the end result.

Boss' son on Torre's future: 'Nothing decided yet'

Associated Press

Updated: October 9, 2007, 6:56 PM ET

NEW YORK -- Tick tock, tick tock.
The wait is on for Joe Torre and his Yankees players, a fiercely loyal bunch.
Nearly everyone in New York wanted to know Tuesday whether owner George Steinbrenner will keep his longtime manager or let him go after 12 straight playoff appearances.
No answers yet.
"Have some patience. Things take time. There will be a process and we'll work through that, and it will lead us where it leads us," general manager Brian Cashman said. "My speculation is I'm not going to have anything to report in the next couple of days."

Yankees put off meetings to decide Torre's future until next week

NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees put off their meetings on Joe Torre's future until next week.
The meetings are likely to start Monday night or Tuesday, and they probably will be held at the team's spring training complex in Tampa, Fla.
Torre will not be asked to attend the start of the session, when owner George Steinbrenner, his sons and top aides will discuss whether to bring the manager back for a 13th season -- which would be the longest run for a baseball manager in New York since Joe McCarthy was in the Yankees' dugout from 1931-46.

No Word On Torre's Future Yet

TAMPA, Fla. -- Joe Torre's future with the New York Yankees remained unclear Tuesday after team officials gathered at the home of owner George Steinbrenner to debate whether the manager should return for a 13th season.
"The meetings are adjourned for tonight," spokesman Howard Rubenstein said shortly after the session ended about 4 p.m. "There have been no decisions made, nor will there be any comment today. The meetings will resume tomorrow."

Per ESPN, Torre will be back in 2008, with an option for 2009.

Now that this story has received 10 times the attention that it deserved, baseball people can talk about the 3 teams that still have some baseball left in 2007. :wink2:
