Krenzel ... Good, Bad or Ugly? (Long)

Mr.FuzzyPants said:
wow. A thread that was just talking about how much of a class act krenzel is ends up with people bitching at eachother and about MoC. This is starting to be more and more like bucknuts.

I was thinking the same thing. :pissed:

Congratulations, Craig, on being drafted in the 5th round. You're a great Buckeye! Thanks for the memories.

I just read that it may be a case of the Bears not wanting Grossman to feel pressure from a backup that could easily be their starter.
With the Krenzel pick, Grossman knows they drafted him to be a back up and nothing else. Therefore, no pressure at all on Grossman.

I think people have noticed that having smart and efficient backups in the league is a good thing. Take a Dilfer for example, no one expected him to do much when he had to step up for a couple different teams and get in there to play. And he didn't do much, except minimize mistakes, lead his team, and move the ball (ugly at times). Led the Ravens to win the title game in the process.

I don't realistically think Craig will ever be a guy that a team gets excited about being their starter (not unlike Dilfer), but I think he's someone they can feel good about if their #1 goes down for short(ish) periods of time.

It's worth pointing out that I'm not saying Craig is going to lead someone to the big game as a backup, just that sometimes smart and mistake-free are more appealing backup qualities than a big arm.

I'm not surprised Krenzel was picked but I thought he would probably go in the 6th or 7th rounds. We all know he has size, strength, toughness, intelligence, leadership, some speed, and has nerves of steel. He has everything except for arm strength and accuracy. Obviously the Bears and their QB coach think his mechanics can probably be refined to correct these deficiencies. Hopefully being able to work full-time on football without the distraction of classes (I'm assuming) will allow him to succeed in the NFL.

Why is it necessary to bash Clarett in a post about Krenzel? Doesn't the post about Krenzel stand on its own? Don't be surprised when people talking about Clarett when you fan the flames.

I don't think he was bashing Clarett, rather pointing out how Krenzel's demeanor was supposedly different than that of Clarett as pointed out in other threads...
