Citizen Kane by Orson Welles. This is an old movie that really plays well in space. Someone who seemingly has it all but never again found the happiness that was wrenched away during the innocence of his childhood. The Kane as idealistic young adult had a lot of moxie.

Bad Times at the El Royale

I liked this movie a whole lot. It started a little slowly, but once it got going it was really enjoyable just watching events unfold while having almost no clue about what would happen next. Having completely unexpected and unforeseen things happen greatly enhances the movie experience for me.

I saw First Man also, and agree with BayBuck about the quality of that movie, but I enjoyed El Royale more.

Will see this one soon, mostly because the wife mandates that any movie starring Chris Hemsworth shirtless in the rain is an automatic buy.

Saw Nutcracker last week, and thought it was enjoyable enough. Not great by any stretch of the imagination, but an interesting take on a classic with stunning visuals (very much like the Narnia movies, visually, with some Burton Alice-like character designs).

Saw Bohemian Rhapsody yesterday, and man was that great to see. I greatly appreciated that the last 20 minutes was the Live Aid concert, though I was also hoping that they would maybe cover the last few recording sessions for the later songs like The Show Must Go On. It also helps that it was the closest I'll ever get to seeing Queen live. If its playing in Dolby/IMAX near you, definitely go see it in the largest format you can.

Did they use the original music? The previews seem to be lacking entirely in it.....

Yes, all the main pieces are there, and generally in the expected order. I was very happy with that, and I would have ripped the movie to shreds if the music was messed with. It could have been perfect in every other way but screwing with the music would have been an immediate F- from me.

Watched the Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Shit!

It is a movie made up of short films. The first one is Buster Scruggs which is funny...then it goes off the rails. I turned it off after the Liam Neeson short film. It has a boat load of good actors but is boring as hell.

Green Book, with Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali. It was very good, based on a true story of an Italian-descent New Yorker driving a black concert pianist through the Deep South in the early '60s.

Lots of very funny moments and poignant stuff as well. I rarely ever say poignant.
