Would you say then that this latest jewel could have been foreseen for Melo?NFBuck;690985; said:The 15 games hurts 'Melo enough, but the real damage is to his reputation long-term. He wasn't seen as "squeaky clean" image wise (the DVD and all), but he was still a relative babe in the league. Now he sucker punches somebody in an already ugly brawl and then runs away like a pussy. That is an image that will haunt him until he's retired....and it's well deserved.
do you mean 'Melo???? he played one year at Syracuse....Would you say then that this latest jewel could have been foreseen? and one other thought I just had. Is this a result of drafting kids right out of high school? I definitely think so.
Don't think I necessarily saw it coming, but it doesn't suprise me. 'Melo had one year of college by the way.Best Buckeye;690989; said:Would you say then that this latest jewel could have been foreseen for Melo?
and one other thought I just had in regards to the recent fights. Is this a result of drafting kids right out of high school? I definitely think so.
I never saw it coming either, but i'm not a NBA fan.NFBuck;691028; said:Don't think I necessarily saw it coming, but it doesn't suprise me. 'Melo had one year of college by the way.
methomps;691069; said:And when this happens in baseball? Oh, it's just "part of the game." So, I guess in basketball it is pervasive enough to be a problem for the NBA, but not pervasive enough to be excusable as "part of the game."
But since that reasoning is nonsense...
Exactly. David Stern had to shit in his pants when he saw Smith and Robinson go flying into spectators.Buckeye86;691089; said:Like I said earlier, I think it's seen as a bigger problem for basketball because fans don't get crushed by players pushing and shoving and tackling each other into the stands in baseball, football, or hockey brawls.

This doesn't address the image problem the NBA or the players have because of the brawls compared to other sports, but I think it is why these incidents are much bigger deals when they happen on an NBA court.
methomps said:I can see "NBA brawls are a bigger threat to fans than MLB brawls. Thus, NBA players should be fined more for brawls than MLB players." I don't see "NBA brawls are a bigger threat to fans than MLB brawls. Thus, NBA players are thugs (but not MLB players)."

Apr. 24, 1983: Boston?s Danny Ainge takes an elbow from Atlanta center Tree Rollins in a first-round playoff game. Ainge tackles Rollins and Rollins bites Ainge?s finger.
That's astonishing! How in the hell did Danny Ainge ever manage to tackle Tree Rollins?
