More Discussion on Marijuana (Merged with Skeete thread discussion)

I think the oughta legalize weed, and I don't care if my kids end up smoking it. If they do, I'd prefer they smoke it in my house, rather than "out and about" where they can get in to some real trouble.

Of course, my kids are far too young at the moment for this to be a serious consideration as yet (for me).... so, my mind may change when they get to be that age.

My feeling is all of the $$ thrown at stopping it hasnt made a hoot of a difference. They should just legalize it and let the govt do what they do best - tax it blind. The savings from non enforcement coupled w the tax revenue would be enormous, and I dont think any more or less people would do it.

Guess that depends on your thoughts on Thoreauvian civil disobedience, though I don't see how committing a minor misdemeanor really makes one a dishonest person. Possession of marijuana in Ohio is about as serious as a speeding ticket--can a speeder not be a stand-up person?

Good point. I am not saying that would make you a bad person. I'm simply saying that I would not condone or make excuses for either.

Yes, both are misdemeanor's, but are you really saying that smoking pot and speeding are equally detrimental?
