Most OverLoved Programs

Is it just me, or does every thread eventually devolve into an OSU v. ND pissing match.

No, I'm wrong. Half of them devolve into a Smith v. Zwick pissing match.
Nah - at least one-third miss the implied sarcasm font then devolve
plus a full 50% of Open Discussions go into a tibor navigated Black Hole.

See that's at least 185% of all posts which do something other than evolve -- using the very latest math

Actually, there is no statistically significant difference between the teams if you look at the computer ratings of strength of schedule.

The only rating that I can find with any real history is Marsee. During the last ten years, OSU has had the highest SOS in three years and ND has had it in seven years in Marsee's ratings.

It looks like ND has played a much tougher schedule the last two years, but at it's best, which was last year, there was only a 3.5 point difference between the schedules. Also, during the last two years, ND's entire SOS is inflated by 27 points in both years by USC's abnormally high score.

But guys, I am including the mean ratings and standard deviations and those of you who are statistically clued up will quickly see:

There is no statistical difference between the strength of schedule during the past ten years, as measured by the Marsee ratings.

I can because they did not instead they played amny mediocre at best teams, teams that OSU knew were not going to be a real strong challenge. Half of your BOLD names are not big name/real strong schools.

Oh mighty cosmic one, just how can one tell 5+ years in advance if a team is "not going to be a real strong challenge"? I'm sure the OSU administration was thinking, "Hey, let's schedule some real patsies", when they contacted Alabama, USC, LSU, etc., to schedule games with them. :roll1:

And since when are Southern California, Alabama, Washington, Colorado, LSU, Miami, etc., not real strong schools? Everyone of them, save Washington, have won a national title since Notre Dame last did.

Oh yeah, Great Post Award for Steve19...

and ND's schedule next year includes.....

BYU
NAVY
SYRACUSE
STANFORD
PITTSBURGH
WASHINGTON
AND 3 of those mediocre big ten teams you keep talking about.. so you guys should have 8 automatic wins right?

We also all know how prolific ND is in their recent bowl games so im sure they will win that too.. 9 win season for sure!!!!

Delusion
Inability to accept reality
Referrees with assists (in wins, TSUN come to mind?)

Altered Bucklion's post to emphasize my point:
(Listing=record, bowl W/L, final AP rank)
1995: ND 9-3 L (11) OSU 11-2 L (6)
1996: ND 8-3 - (19) OSU 11-1 W (2)
1997: ND 7-6 L (-) OSU 10-3 L (12)
1998: ND 9-3 L (22) OSU 11-1 W (2)
1999: ND 5-7 - (-) OSU 6-6 - (-)
2000: ND 9-3 L (15) OSU 8-4 L (-)
2001: ND 5-6 - (-) OSU 7-5 L (-)
2002: ND 10-3 L (17) OSU 14-0 W (1)
2003: ND 5-7 - (-) OSU 11-2 W (4)
2004: ND 6-6 L (-) OSU 8-4 W (20)
No Bowl Wins, No Top 10 finishes, no conference championships.
Of course N.D. would have done better if they hadn't played the Buckeyes :wink2: ! Not just overall, but the Domers would have cracked the top ten in 95 if it weren't for Ohio State.
Ohio State also plays (and beats) top schools by going to Bowl games (and winning them!)! usually about two out of three years. Which is about two out of three years better than the Domers do.
Big 2 Little 8? there have been more ten game winners (in a season) from the Big Ten in the last ten years than the Irish will play in the next 25.

I gotta say this thread has devolved into one of the most inane conversations I've seen in a while. Who honestly gives a shit about what some domer thinks about our performance or SOS over the last 10 years? There's just not that much difference to talk smack about, and in the only head-to-head matchups, the domers had their asses handed to them, including at their place.

In the words of Shrek, sounds like ND's compensating for something.

ND - CW may be great, he may not. The truth is I don't know, and you don't know. Sounds like you're all smack to me. I'm movin' on...

SCUM ! lol! You obviously have not a clue about ND's DB's! LOL!! At least yours turn their head to see if the ball has been thrown or about to be caught. All ND's have done since Lou left is try and tackle the receiver after he catches the pass and sometimes that doesn't happen....

KC has the same problem!
