Official 2006 NCAA Tournament Discussion Thread

Now compare Field Goal attempts.

Or ignore them, and continue to bitch because apparently every team that has lost a game in this tournament has been done in by the refs.
FG attempts: UConn 51, Wash 80

Fouls on 5 starters + 6th man
Wash: Roy 5, Dentmon 5, Jones 5, Jensen 5, Brockman 4, Williams 4 = 28 total (j smith also fouled out)
Uconn: Boone 3, Armstrong 2, Williams 4, Gay 3, Brown 4, Anderson 2 = 18 total

Sure looks like a truckload of inside shots for Washington:

Based upon the continued bitching, the scope of which has now dramatically expanded to professional football, I now amend my previous statement to read:

...Apparently every team that has lost a game in the history of sports has been done in by the refs.

I dont know what the fuck your problem is, but its hard to argue that this has been a decently officiated tournament. There was another example 45 minutes ago, the LSU player clocked the Texas player on the head right in front of the refs, and the ref saw the whole thing and didnt do anything, even after he fell down and was holding his head. They were the only two players on that side of the court, so it wasnt like someone was blocking the refs view.

There was a horrible call yesterday against Boston College were they ruled that the BC player traveled when he was pulled-down to the court.

They missed a crucial goaltend in overtime against Washington in the UCONN game.

This hasnt been a well officiated tournament, so go ahead and take that out of context and make statements like this:

"...Apparently every team that has lost a game in the history of sports has been done in by the refs"

Man, I've never seen as much bitching about officiating as I have this year.

Bitching about your team being screwed by the refs is one thing. Bitching about the refs in about half of the games in every sport I have watched this year is different. Officiating has been overly awful this year, not just in BBall, but in Football as well. I dont know if the refs are just getting too old and they cant keep up with the sport anymore, or what, but something has changed.

The officiating has been bad, not towards one team or another, but overall it has been pretty bad. Or maybe I should say inconsistent, one game they are allowed to just beat the shit out of each other and the next they arent allowed to breath.

There needs to be some sort of line there, b/c it really hurts some teams who are physical who can't play their game.
