Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

tell me what part of the team caroll takes pride in and coaches directly.

What the fuck are you EVER talking about?

The 2005 USC team was ripe to be beaten and VY did just that. You didn't have a fucking clue that Fresno nearly beat them about 2 months earlier until I brought it up.

Just because Pete Carroll takes a special interest in his defense doesn't mean a fucking thing towards what has already happened on the field. You have your damned blinders on AGAIN and are missing facts AGAIN.

BTW on November 19th, USC defeated Fresno State 50-42 after giving up 427 Yards of offense and trailing by a point midway in the 4th Quarter.

We all know they gave up a ton of yards and probably should've lost to ND.

That wasn't the greatest team ever at USC. All it took was a great playmaker like VY to bust it wide open.

Actually, when you think of SC, you think of their high powered offense. Their defenses have been decent but the offense is what they've been known for recently

Exactly and especially that year, they were able to outscore other teams when their defense was having issues stopping them.

Texas beat them because Texas beat them at their own game.

Yeah I agree with you bud. He puts alot into his defense. He always has said it's his thing. The offense will always get all the publicity but do they have a hell of a defensive class on the field next season. When Norm Chow was there Carroll left the offense to him. I think the most underrated part of Carroll is his defenses. Last season they only allowed 15 pts a game. i don't know the exact number from the years before but I know there either 22pts or less per game.
In 2005 there defense did give up two huge days to Fresno and Young. This season they dropped from 22pts per gave to 15 because in '05 most of the players where freshman. It showed in '06 the experience the got in '05.

15.15 last year...

22.84 the year before that....

Is Quinn Underrated?

I'm not a Quinn fan but isn't he getting undervalued during the whole predraft stuff? He had a really good stats this season and always had to come back in games. Or at least keep up due to ND's horrible defense. He's 6'4" 224lbs and his mobility always can keep a play alive, Elway like. I know he lost his two last games to USC and LSU . Now I look back and have done some homework I believe ND was overrated and not Quinn. He can throw the long ball on the dime, especially the deep out. He has been in a pro-style offense the last two years. The thing is when I watch him in the 4th quarter he shows no fear and great leadership. If he had a defense his stats would of been better and the teams record.
I think if Thomas isn't there Quinn is the best bet. I know before I said Calvin, but I'm taking it back. Quinn i believe is the most pro ready in the draft. Maybe he could breath life into the Browns offense. Plus you know Winslow and Edwards will be happy. I just keep hearing great things about his leadership and his personality. How he gets his team to relax and have fun. I think something the Browns need. Who do you think will help the offense more in '07, Quinn or Peterson? Oh then the rest of the draft just keep drafting lineman. Then next year look at RB but I just think the Browns need stability on offense and Quinn can do that. Since the Browns came back in 2000 they've had 10 different starting QB.

And how were those stats against Good competition? The stats against teams like Army, Air Force and Navy absolutely distort how impressively average Quinn was against Michigan/USC/LSU.

Hell if height was a factor Dan McGwire would've been one of the best QBs ever. His size is just one of many things and isn't a big determining factor and is, of itself, blown well out of proportion.

I seriously don't understand WHY or HOW you can separate the two....

Yeah and Charlie Weis is an offensive genius too.....

Brady Quinn will flop in Cleveland. Write it down.

Wow! Your like an ex-girlfriend who twist every word. Yeah Quinn could flop in Cleveland just like every QB they've drafted or brought in. Maybe they won't change the offense every year on Quinn.

How about you worry about the Titans.

Hey maybe the Titans can have him if you want him so badly. :roll1:

If you watched Brady Quinn in college AT ALL, you'd know that he isn't exactly the person for Cleveland.

maybe if you knew anything about the browns you would know the #1 thing they've lacked is stability at the QB position. Yes I watch games and I look at more then the score or stats. I watch WR drop balls. I watch the line not block. Oh wait I forgot BuckeyeMike is always right and where all wrong. Sorry to ruin your comback and say I'm not the only person that think Quinn is the best fit for Cleveland.

I don't care who the QB is, but not a single person will say the Browns have a good offensive or defensive line. You won't win with holes like the Browns have there.

You'd be wasting a pick on Brady Quinn without significantly strengthening the offensive line. And considering what he did against Quality competition last year and the year before, saying he's "pro ready" is horseshit.

You'd be wasting the first couple years of Brady Quinn's career (much like Tim Couch) by sticking him in that no win situation. Have some respect for the guy and let him get to a situation that is good for BOTH parties.
