Game Thread Ohio State @ Purdue - 10/20/18, 7:30PM (ABC)

We get pissed and vent here, but this shit is out of hand. Bowen got this while sitting on his couch:

There are so many things that are really snuffing out the passion i used to feel for college football, and social media/all of the crap that comes with it is at the top. I just do not feel the same way about the sport like I did in the past. Maybe it's growing up, having kids, etc., but the "business" of the college game and crap like the above are right there.

A couple of years ago, a game like last night would have eaten at me for a while. Now, I'm like mildly irritated as I'm watching it, then i move on. So that's kinda nice.

The approach of "just win me my title" is what I hate...

That's the problem with social media though. This guy is just one uneducated dumbass probably living in his moms basement somewhere and now he is given a platform to harass kids and then the kids get upset about it when they could just make their accounts private, but they don't want to do that because they need a space to discuss their political hot takes which gets adults mad at college kids again. It's just a mess. Social media sucks.

In the past this dude would just be talking to himself in the basement

Read his Twitter profile: "I am a 20 year nfl veteran and 11th in nfl personnel. 2 time Midwest recruiter of the year." Sure you are, not even capitalizing "NFL" in your profile, and having your tweets locked down to only those who "follow" you.

STFU about the playoffs. Playoff teams don't lose by 4TDs .
Exactly. I could care less about the playoffs now because this team is not fixing its issues to compete with a program like Alabama in the playoffs. Just beat Michigan and win the Big Ten and I will walk away from this year believing this was a very successful season considering the flaws.

Wow. There was a lot to vent about after the game last night, but that right there is absolutely pathetic.

Can’t say I’m shocked, though. Social media is the worst for giving a voice to morons like that, so it kind of comes with the territory. Unfortunately, these kids get an early dose of how demented the general population is with outlets like Twitter waiting for them after a loss. Truly sad.

With “fans” like that, who needs rivals. I feel like dealing with something like this would almost make you happy that you lost just to keep them from having any satisfaction.

Agreed, growing up and become an "adult", you don't see these games in the same vein. But my heart truly goes out to the kids, especially after losses, because big programs like this have ALL TYPES of fans, and some want to send their vitriol at KIDS, which is disgusting.

Yeah, plan on us being in another NY6 bowl

Is it a top 3 urban squad? I don't think so.

Bosa is special, but 13-15 had one and a pile more impact players. Haskins is rare but the OL more than negates his strengths. The 16 O is better at this point let alone 13, 14, 15 (and to a lesser extent 17).

This secondary has two possibly high level corners. It has 1-2 starters towards the other end . They've been incredibly loaded in recent years to the point where they had 4 first round picks and the other guy was pretty solid

The DL is good but there have been many others that executed better, particularly against the run.

This might be the worst LB crew this decade, and there were a few whoppers in there.

I think it's a shame that we might only see Haskins this year, but this team is who we thought they were. Also, if these struggels mean another year of Dwayne paired with new assistant coaching, that would be huge.

It's a once in a lifetime opportunity you get 2 top5 guys like Haskins and Bosa peaking at the same time. I see Haskins as a Luck.

Is it really the worst LB crew or just the worst LB coaching? At least 3 of these DBs will play in the league... as well as the DLine being stacked with pro talent.
In 5 years this will be up there with some of Coopers* mid 90s teams.
The failures of this team fall squarely on the coaching staff. Whole units with plenty of talent not functioning. Playcalling and schemes appear to be stymied by egotistical pride - if we can all see it, im certain the players can too. And it does feel like they're losing the locker room.
We cant blame everything on Pryor either. He hasnt even been that bad last 2 games.

*for the record, i dont like the other Cooper comparisons being thrown around today cuz Urban gets the rivalry, shows out for it, and has only had 1 postseason game that the team wasnt competitive.
But the comparison with generational talents is legit imo.

Are you this negative with anything doesn’t go the way you wanted in life? jesus...

We lost by 31 to Iowa last year and without the Okl loss would have been in the playoff after beating tsun and winning the BigTenChamp.

I’m bad when it comes to my favorite team losing but some of you guys take it to a silly level. What’s the fun of you can have some hope and look at the bright side?

When was this golden age of defense under Meyer?

You don't agree we that had a top defense in recent history?

2015: #3 in nation in points allowed, #9 yards per game
2016: #3 in nation in points allowed, #5 yards per game
2017: #10 in nation in points allowed, #7 yards per game

In 2014 we gave up more points, but still ranked #19 in points allowed and #11 in yards per game, but that too was a pretty solid defense, just more of a bend but don't break one.

Contrast that with this year:
#41 in nation in points allowed, #61 in yards per game

2017 on paper wasn't a really bad year for the D, especially when you consider we struggled to move the ball at times, but you definitely started to see the shortcomings we hadn't been used to seeing in years past, and this year it just all fell apart.

Our offense wasn't potent enough last year, especially combined with a declining D.,This year we have a potent offense, but a defense so bad that it can't offset it.
