Pittsburgh Penguins (Official Thread)

Great win tonight, this all but sealed it for the Pens. MAF was great again tonight. Jagr his best game in a long time. if I was a ranger fan, i'd be looking to kill Ryan Hollweg. You absolutely cannot hit a guy like that, especially when your team has momentum.

According to today's Tribune Review, Malkin's expected to sign his extension as soon as allowed by the bargaining agreement (July 1). He was quoted as saying he doesn't need to exceed Sids deal, but the deal is reported to be 5 or 6 years at 9M per.

That's a great start Shero.

9m per will exceed sids deal :wink2: unless by that he means a 9.1m deal?

5-6 is an interesting length. the ovie 13 year deal isnt that bad really if you think about it, unless he gets hurt or something.

good move by the pens. thats another one locked down. glad to hear that. its good for hockey...

Yea, he said he doesn't need to exceed Sid, then the article insinuated that the team came up with the 9M number, which would exceed Sid's 8.75. Don't know what Sid makes from endorsements, but it has to be quite alot. I'm sure that extra 1/4 M won't bother him.

At least the 9M is less than what he could have gotten on the open market next year.

I expect it to happen.. so it won't come as a surprise. Same with Orpik, unfortunately.

We have a solid amount of talent with Wilkes-Barre Scranton, so hopefully we don't see too much of a decline in production.

In todays Trib-Review, they announced signing Hossa as their #1 priority. They arbitration offer to MAF gives them time to workon Hossa now while keeping MAF on the back burner for now. They're reportedly offering a 7 year deal to Hossa in the neighborhood of 50Mil. They're trying to work out the Hossa deal before they move to Orpik and MAF.

Malone appears to be the odd man out. I like Malone, but I'd take Hossa over him any day of the week. The article also said Malone will get nearly 5Mil per season from someone (CBJ?). Sorry, that's just too much for him.
