Little bits and pieces of the Falcons schedule are starting to leak out.

Matt Ryan and the American Heros that play for the Atlanta Falcons will open up with the filthy, pro union, child-molesting thieves in Pittsburgh.

Falcons to open 2010 season at Pittsburgh | Atlanta Falcons

Thankfull that we won't have to deal with the snowy weather.

With as much bad luck as the Steelers have had, I'm sure their fans will be glad to finally get a bit of good luck with this layup in the first game.

It's about time someone talked about this stuff. I get tired of hearing people talk about the Steelers as just a bunch of good, wholesome, blue collar boys, led by those sweet ol' Rooneys.

...this isn't ticky-tack stuff like parking tickets and training camp curfew violations. These are reports, allegations or documented instances of shooting at cops, assaults against women, drugs, deadly high-speed car chases and suicides -- as well as repeated questions about performance-enhancing drugs.

...a lawyer paid for by the Rooneys bailed Holmes out of jail using $45,000 supplied by the Rooneys. He was then taken to a psychiatric hospital (also paid for by the Rooneys) where he stayed for two months. When he got out, Holmes pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and, somehow, was given five years probation. (Just trying to imagine how something like this would play out in 2011 is mind-blowing, isn't it?) A few months later, though, Holmes was back at training camp and in the starting lineup, where he helped the Steelers win their first two Super Bowls.

Art Rooney Jr. said Holmes needed "mercy."

Of course, the Steel Curtain also needed a defensive end.

Chivalry isn't dead after all. :roll2:

In the 1991 book "False Glory: The Steve Courson Story," the former Steelers offensive lineman wrote that 75 percent of the offensive linemen on the Steelers' Super Bowl teams in the late 1970s had used steroids.

All you need to do is go back and look at the linemen.

since 2000, 17 former Steelers have died before they reached the age of 59.

Most of them were former linemen.

in 2007 that Dr. Richard Rydze, a longtime member of the Steelers' medical staff, had been questioned by federal authorities after supposedly using a personal credit card to purchase six-figures worth of human growth hormone.

Coincidence?

And last but not least...

13 arrests since Super Bowl XL

Unlike the Steelers, no one has ever suggested the Bengals were the model organization of the NFL. Perhaps Cincinnati should've used 'roids in the 70s, too?
On 'roids - anyone want to claim the Bengals never did use them?
(I doubt you want to make such a claim).
On model organizations - no, the Bengals are a model of nothing other than disorganization, certainly since the 90's Mike Brown era began. But, that's besides the point.

The ESPN piece tries to set the Stillers up as the dirtiest right? Digs back through 4 decades of rubble to pick up the pieces then, as you so neatly point out, "Last but not least" points to their poor arrest record since the XL (2006) Super Bowl. Which the least functional team in the same AFC division easily eclipses over the same time period.

So, are the Steelers today the dirtiest? If not, (and I think it is clear that they really are not) then that "Last but not least" bit carries significantly less weight than the rhetorical flourish attempts to impose.

Are OSU fans all of a sudden going to take ESPIN at their word now that they are after another popular team? Really?

The Steelers of the 70's were roid monsters and Ben's a rapist. We all know this. I'll still be watching on 2/6.

Do you dispute anything in the article?

To be honest, I didn't even click on the article to read it. I try to avoid the site at all costs; I'm not going to give them the satisfaction of even getting the web hit. All I'm saying is that there are countless threads/posts on here about ESPiN's scripted agenda when it comes to sports "reporting" or the "talking heads" just trying to drive up ratings, but yet when some [Mark May] stirring article comes out about the Steelers all you Browns/Bengals fans (or whatever team, it really doesn't matter) are willing to accept it as gospel.

Just remember this conversation the next time you get into a [censored]ing match with some Auburn or Bama fan and they start pulling out some the garbage ESPiN has been spewing against OSU since 2003/2004 as part of their argument that OSU is as corrupt as the SEC. As Jax said, the idea of any OSU fan using an ESPiN article as support for an argument is laughable.
