RB Erik Haw (official thread)

I believe the ucla destination may be premature (still in limbo perhaps), but the transfer rumors have been heard from a number of sources.

ucla visitors, haw got caught smoking one joint... didn't run when the cops came, fully apologized and has been a trooper while riding the pine. He's a classy kid.

Best of luck to Haw at UCLA

Not a knock on haw but, he was the 3th or 4th option at rb and its the best for all involved. He reminded me of jerry westbrook with good size and flying speed but, behind other rb's. Play in blow outs or take a chance elsewhere.

RB Haw transferring from Ohio State

Associated Press

<!-- begin body-content --> COLUMBUS, Ohio - Running back Erik Haw has decided to transfer from Ohio State, apparently disappointed over his spot on the depth chart.
Haw, a third-year sophomore, asked for his release from the Buckeyes and the request was granted, athletic department spokesman Steve Snapp told The Columbus Dispatch for a story Thursday.
Haw figured to be the fourth-string tailback in the fall behind starter Antonio Pittman, Maurice Wells and freshman Chris Wells. Haw played in four games last season, rushing for 61 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries and catching two passes for six yards.
There are three or four schools Haw is considering, said Alan Jones, his former high school football coach at Columbus Independence.
"He doesn't see the possibility of playing at OSU," Jones said. "He feels he's paid his dues and now it's time to move on."
Haw was cited in May 2005 after a university police officer saw him smoking a marijuana cigarette while standing outside a dormitory. He pleaded guilty to an amended charge of disorderly conduct and entered a drug education program.
Snapp also said cornerback Mike Roberts has transferred to Indiana State and defensive lineman Sian Cotton is no longer on the team.

Disappointed at slipping from second- to fourth-string on the depth chart, running back Erik Haw is leaving Ohio State.
The running back, a thirdyear sophomore from Independence High School, has asked for and been granted his release from the Buckeyes, team spokesman Steve Snapp said.
Haw is exploring transfer opportunities, but it’s unclear where he may end up. He could not be reached for comment last night.
His coach at Independence, Alan Jones, said Haw is considering three or four schools but did not identify them.
"He doesn’t see the possibility of playing at OSU," Jones said. "He feels he’s paid his dues and now it’s time to move on."
Haw faced a struggle for playing time this fall. Incumbent starter Antonio Pittman returns after a 1,300-yard season, as does the top backup, Maurice Wells. And star recruit Chris Wells is expected to push for immediate playing time.
If he transfers to another Division I-A school, Haw would have to sit out a year but still would have two years of eligibility remaining.
He played sparingly last year as the third-string back. He appeared in four games, totaling 61 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries and catching two passes for six yards.
Snapp also said cornerback Mike Roberts has transferred to Indiana State and defensive lineman Sian Cotton is no longer on the team.

If he goes to a Div-IA team, does he have to wait a year after transferring, or is it just a year, period? I mean, does he have to transfer before the season starts, then sit out this year, or can he sit out this year, and then transfer as late as this time next year and then play next year?

I'm hoping he goes somewhere that Ohio State doesn't have to play him.
