Just split off a bunch of posts that have more to do with the "soon-to-be mightier than Ryan Mallett" uber-prospect Terrelle Pryor than they do to with the Almighty himself...

Let's keep this thread about RoboRyan...

UCLA has 4* QB Nick Crissman coming in. 6'3, 193, pro-style.

On the depth chart are the following QBs...

Ben Olson, SR next year. 6'4, 231.

2007 Stats:
48.3% completion percentage
1040 yards
7 TDs
6 Ints
13 sacks (Another bizarre TDs + Ints = Sacks number)

Patrick Cowan, SR next year, 6'5, 218

2007 Stats:
53.3% completion percentage
696 yards
4 TDs
2 Ints
10 sacks

McLeod Bethel-Thompson, SO next year, 6'4, 222.

2007 Stats:
41.8% completion percentage
293 yards
1 TD
5 INT
7 Sacks

Osaar Rasshan, 6'4, 212, JR next year
Converted WR

2007 Stats:
37.8% completions
259 yards
0 TD
2 INT
Was quite mobile, and rushed 30 times for 109 yards.

I'd say competing with these guys is easier than possibly competing with Terrelle Pryor. Just a hunch, though.

Based on polling, Ryan Mallet is the leading candidate for both parties in Iowa.

In all seriousness - who the hell cares whether or not Mallett stays or goes? In fact, losing TP to scUM isnt the end of the world either. Not only does Dick Rod inherit a team built for the modified pro-style offense (and recruits for the same system), he's also losing Hart, Henne, Manningham, Arrington, Long and Krauss on offense as well as Crable and Graham on D (two guys who could really help in the 3-3-5) and there is a reasonably large drop off between those guys and those playing immediately behind them. Look at what tOSU is already bringing in for '08 and '09 and then take a few steps back from the ledge.

Which golden boy, bush or neuheisel?

Good point. The constant hammering about USC and the ongoing NCAA investigation during the Rose Bowl broadcast made it tough to keep track of the game, didn't it?

Or maybe I only dreamed about that afterwards. :wink2:

Hmmm, it must have been a dream, because my memory of it was soon dominated by pictures of Reggie's alleged fiancee, Kim Kardashian.

Ryan Mallett, after just one year at Michigan where he personally witnessed a "rebuilding" Ohio State D-Line maul one of the best, most highly touted O-Lines in Michigan's storied history, while also shutting down (and nearly shutting out) a powerful, senior-laden offense, said, "Fuck this, I'm going to UCLA."

One of the most highly touted O-Lines? Everyone fucking sucked except for Long.

You clearly follow Michigan more closely than me, but, in addition to Jake Long, didn't Adam Kraus get voted by both the conference's coaches and the media as first team All Big Ten, and Justin Boren as honorable mention All Big Ten?

Kraus got it because of the fact that he's a senior and looks semi decent because he's paired next to Long...He was incredibly average..and Justin Boren is absolutely brutal..Basically the further right you go down our line the shittier it gets, culminating in equal crappiness between Mitchell and Schilling. BTW honorable mention, isn't that given to like half the players?

I can concur with sniper. This OL was nothing special. Heck even Long was not his old self, the wisky DE gave him trouble (and not on great ability).

The right side of the line has been a revolving door often this year.

Nah Long was just fine. He had a couple moments where he didn't look like a complete stud (see Gholston, Vernon) among others, but he's an all-around badass and someone at the UM Athletic Dept. figured out that every time we ran behind him, we averaged something like 6 ypc. IMO he's still the top OL available this year, homerism aside. But yes, the OL sucked.

Anyways, this thread is about Mallett. Sorry for the spin-off. Best of luck to him in whatever he does. I still think he could have run a spread offense, obviously RR wouldn't try to have him scramble like White, but whatever. Maybe UCLA will help him throw for over 50% completion.
