QB Mallett expected to leave U-M

Angelique S. Chengelis / The Detroit News

As has been expected, quarterback Ryan Mallett is seriously leaning toward leaving Michigan after one season, according to sources close to the program.
Mallett, a 6-foot-7, 252-pound freshman, started three games and played in 11 for the Wolverines last fall. He completed 61 of 141 attempts for 892 yards and seven touchdowns.
"I would be dumbfounded" if Mallett didn't transfer, one source said Thursday night.

Which is the best thing for all humanity.

UT is an SEC school, the SEC is covered by CBS, Brent Musberger does not work for CBS ergo society is saved three years of incessant "Big Tex" fellating.

Hold on pardner... if Mallet does transfer to UT there is a possibility hear Brent say "Big Tex" at least once since UT plays UCLA next year in Pasadena.

If Brent covers a game in which Ryan Mallet is present, let alone plays in, I guarantee you will hear "Big Tex" a hell of a lot more than once.

He said West Virginia hiring one of his assistants, Bill Stewart, as head coach didn't impact his hiring process. "When we sent the plane down to pick them up (in Morgantown), the plane was full."

Always nice to see such a caring individual in the college coaching fraternity...:shake:

Mallett's dad says QB is officially leaving U-M; Arrington declares for NFL draft
Ryan Mallett’s father said Wednesday the quarterback has left the Michigan football program, while wide receiver Adrian Arrington announced that he will be entering the 2008 NFL draft.

Coach Rich Rodriguez said a day earlier he did not expect to coach Mallett, Arrington or wide receiver Mario Manningham at Michigan. Rodriguez said Arrington and Manningham would skip their senior seasons.

“Today is a very emotional day for me,” Arrington said in a statement released by the school. “As much as I will miss my teammates, friends and Michigan football family, I have always dreamed about playing in the NFL.

...

Mallett might be reunited with his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

“He’s on his way home,” Jim Mallett told The Associated Press. “We don’t know where he’s going to go yet, but we need to do something quick. We’re going to visit three, four or five schools.”

The former Texas Class 4A offensive player of the year may end up at Tennessee, which is considering hiring former Michigan offensive coordinator Mike DeBord and quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler.

“If they’re hired, that would be a real good possibility,” Jim Mallett said. “Ryan really clicked with both coach DeBord and coach Loeffler during the last couple months of the season and during bowl practices, I’ve never seen Ryan throw the ball or read defenses as well as he did.”

Yeah, a drop back QB transfering out of a Read Option system is surely the nail in the coffin. :shake:
Such a SHOCKING development too. Surely Pryor had NO idea, and would never have thought (or been told) he could start over Mallett either.

Dick Wadriquez would never do such a thing, just like he would never call a recruit before informing his BCS bound team that he was headed for Michigan after preaching Moutaineer for life last year.
