The Paul Finebaum Show (Official Thread)

Nothing past Iowa that gets that game out of my mind.

Take off the scarlet-colored glasses.
It can stay in your mind, as well it should. Doesn't mean the major flaws of Alabama, both the team and (lack of) resume, shouldn't be at the forefront of your mind sitting right alongside it. I just don't think you appreciate either of those things, particularly their offensive flaws.

I definitely see them. Very similar to OSU. Me picking Alabama is not an easy decision. They are close.

OSU's warts are too egregious for me to excuse.

Fair enough. I agree with the warts being similar in terms of their games, but I don't think most here realize how inept they are passing the ball. If you have a defense good enough to take away the run like Bama does, JT can do SOME with his arm. Not a lot, but some. If you have a defense good enough to take away the run like OSU does, hurts has nothing. Like, zero passing ability. He's also a true sophomore, not a redshirt senior, but at least this year he's been dysfunctional passing.

Hopefully Alabama gets beat worse than 31-0 and you are proven right!

I'm not sure how Bama will score. Clemson is fully capable of shutting down the Bama offense. Hurts went 12 -22 112 yds
1 TD against Auburn. Ran for 82 yds.
But I do expect a maximum effort from Bama. And maybe some of those LBers get healthy enough to make a difference.

Barring a massive transformation this bowl season (and Saban is certainly capable of that), we know who Alabama is. They're Wisconsin with better athletes. The regular season version is not capable of mounting big comebacks or putting up big numbers on offense most nights. They are capable of grinding out a lot of wins against bad to decent teams, and won't be blown out of the building by their own blunders like OSU.

I liked that prediction in the other thread that said OSU could win by 45 or lose by 31. That about sums them up.

Sonofabitch! Dobbins and Weber got suspended?!?!? I guess since we dominated down the stretch with them we can't compete anymore since they're no longer on the te....oh wait, what? They're still on the team? I guess I don't see your logic.

My logic is that the Buckeyes would get smoked in the playoff because the guy taking the snaps isn't good enough.

The defense of recent poor B1G bowl performances has always been the fact that B1G teams were picked for BCS at-large games they probably didn't deserve because of revenue, so every other B1G team had to play 'up' -- B1G teams wound up being installed as underdogs in a plurality of their bowls disproportionate to other conferences.

This season, B1G teams are favored in 6 of their 8 bowls. The SEC, with two teams in the CFP, are .500 with a pick'em.

Now would be a good time to end the chirping.

I do. I would argue that your love for OSU has poisoned you to the point of not allowing yourself to get past the Iowa game and realize just how strongly they finished the season, and on the flip side how conditioned you've been into thinking every year Alabama is the greatest team ever. Many years that's actually true. The last month of the season, Bama wasn't that great.
We lose to ichigan, a mediocre team, if JT doesn't go down.

Stats for Football Fans.
NCAA Passing Offense
Alabama rank # 86 200yds per game
Ohio State rank # 28 274yds per game

Total Offense
Alabama # 20 465yds per game
Ohio State # 6 523 yds per game
Bye every quantifiable measure Ohio State is better.
The committee threw all the "measurables" out.

But we also have the guy who took the team down the field against scUM 4 straight times(scored on 3) which has to count for something. Haskins is a part of the team.
Besides, Barrett did come thru in the clutch against Penn State, MSU, scUM and Wisconsin when it counted.
Who did Bama beat the last 4-5 games?
