Yes. However with all this talk about no one being a challenge in the Big10, all we have to hang our hat on in going to a BCS game is our out of conference slate. As stated by the people on here who are so upset and calling for heads, Ohio State is the only team in the Big10 worth a damn. Everyone else is just a high school team.

Now it really sucks that we got beat by a high school team.

This is the best d-line he has coached at Ohio State?
Which he qualified as the type of thing he says almost every year
No, that's not it.
Embarassing.
Yeah, that describes this better.
Your best got punched in the face when everybody knew what was coming from Wisconsin. Look at the sack numbers no pressure on QBs is a huge issue and will be more as the season goes along.
I prefer watching the games to reading box scores. There has been pretty consistent pressure despite a lot of quick releases from the quarterbacks. Acting like this game was the story of the year is either intentionally deceitful or naively ignorant to how they've played most of the year. Heyward got worked in Madison.
Our recruiting in LB is starting to show. Sabino has not lived up to the hype yet and Rolle is not a middle linebacker.
He is redshirting to take over Rolle's spot.
Bell can not crack the two deep?
Bell is in the two deep, and injured.
This is the best 1st string team I have seen in my 20+ years of watching OSU.
That puts a rather large hole in the 'recruiting at LB' comment.
The problem is there is no one to back the 1st string up. WR/LB/Star are not deep at all.
OSU has usually had noticeable dropoff at backup LB, and is generally has about 3 reliable WRs. The third one decided to not keep his priorities in order.

Star had Hines, Moeller & Bryant. If anything, safety has been a bigger issue than star recruiting. Clifford, Oliver, Domicone, Pentello (etc) forced Hines to move back. To some extent, you could even lump Russell into that group last year.
Keep the faith only dropping to 10 is a blessing and gives a glimmer of hope. Go Bucks
Another comment that is in direct opposition with an earlier one. I'm curious how one keeps the faith while being done with the defensive coach, scheme and talent.

Badger fans are bad, very bad. I was spit on, flicked off more than fifty times, called a hole walking on the streets, people were all up in our face at halftime, they surrounded our car after the game and shaked it.... I talked to some buckeye moms in the hampton inn after the game and they agreed that the fans were extremly hostile.

Screw wisconsin, their fans will have a treat for them the next time they come here. Paybacks a biznitch

I'm in the same boat with you...not a pleasant walk back to the car. "Pay it forward"

Who cares about previous tOSU-Wisconsin games or what tOSU will do to Wisky next season? The concern should be now. Coach Tressel and his team are not making excuses this morning. They were beat by the better team on Saturday.

The Bucks did a great job coming back in the 3rd quarter. However, the defense needed to make a stop in the 4th quarter and the offense needed to score points--and neither happened. In the first and fourth quarters, the Badgers were clearly the better football team. The Buckeyes have work to do.

Talking about the past, boasting about the future, and making excuses for the present is lame.

Agree 100% and let's move on people.

Every time we lose a game its time to clean house and start firing coaches. We didn't lose to Appalachian State... we lost to a quality team that outplayed us plain and simple. We can all make excuses about injuries, poor line play, etc. but the fact of the matter is that Wisconsin was more physical than us in this game. During the course of a season there are bound to be games like this but unfortunately we weren't able to overcome the slow start.

Whereas , last year I was mightily [censored]ed off about the Purdue game, I slept soundly Saturday night knowing that we didn't blow the game but lost to the better team on this night.

After we scored to make it 18-21, Heacock put in a d-line of Simon, Big Hank, Larimore, and Heyward.
They did hit us with a couple of crucial third down passes against this group, but they didn't hurt us running it.
I sure wish he would have tried that lineup out the first posession and gone from there. Would have been interesting.

I don't know about that--they rushed 5 times on that drive for 28 yards, which is over 5.5 yards per carry. I'd say they still hurt us running the ball on that drive.

That's a separate topic from this particularly declaration (lesser being refuted by .500). I get the connection you're trying to make though.

Auburn could go .500 or even .750 against Bama over the next 8 years, but unless they catch up to Bama's overall success and achievements, they are a lesser program.

A lesser program doesn't have to be a terrible one or a mediocre win.

(This is not directed at anyone specific - just adressing the mentality I'm getting in the posts on this thread)
IN this case, if scUM beats us we should not be upset?

They have the tradition.
They have more Big10 titles.
They have more National Championships.
They have had more success.

so I guess we shouldn't be upset if scUM beats us this season because we don't base it on recent achievements. All we care about is what has happened in the history of a program.

But I'm not going to change anyone's mind here. And people are going to complain about anyone that doesn't agree with their opinion. So until I start calling for Heacock and Tressel's head and yell to put Pryor as a WR, you'll disagree with me. I guess we'll just have to think differently

No. We beat ourselves then. Wiscy actually beat us this season.

So OSU beat themselves last year against Purdue, but Wisconsin "actually beat" OSU on Saturday night? OK. :roll2:. And, because of that, Wisconsin's not a lesser program when compared to OSU? Let me make sure I understand your thinking here--we'll ignore the fact that OSU, for example, has been to 7 BCS bowl games in the last 9 years and that Wisconsin has been to zero during that same time period, and instead we'll conclude that Wisconsin isn't a lesser program simply because they beat OSU on Saturday night. Do I have it right now?
