Univ. of Illinois being sued over Chief Illiniwek

As one with a Northern European family name and roots I'm angered by the portrayal of Vikings as fur wearing, horned helmeted psychopaths. While we're at it, Eric the Red got to North America in plenty of time to greet Columbus. I want holiday too!

Listening to Billy Packer running his mouth about a potential final 4 with 3 teams from the same conference prior to WI losing he mentioned the Big East last accomplished this 20 some years ago. He was rambling about some pasta/spaghetti fest with Massimino/Carnaseca/Valvano (I think those were the 3) and then he mentioned John Thompson from Georgetown was the 4rth. I was waiting for him to pull a Fuzzy Zoeller but he wussed out.

Packer is an absolute joke. On Selection Sunday he admitted to not having seen several mid-majors play all year and in one instance an entire conference. Now let me get this straight, his sole job in life is to report on college basketball and he hasn't made the effort to even watch one single game in a mid-major conference. How can CBS not see that he is a complete joke?

So will "Rameses the Ram," mascot of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.
I didn't realize the Tar Heel mascot was named after a prophylactic. Damn Trojan wannabes.

And as a side note, in the Egyptian Meseum in Cairo, if you pay extra you can go into a special climate-controlled room to view the mummified body of Rameses II in a sealed glass case. It was pretty cool to see the face of a pharoah that ruled for about 67 years in the 13th century BC. He was the father of about 111 sons and 51 daughters. It's good to be the Pharoah!

He looks better from the side.

For those that don't know, this is about the 10th time the University has been sued over using a native Indian as their mascot. This goes back to the 70's - just about every time Illinois is on the national stage a local Native American advocacy group sues the university and the use of Illiniwek.

There's a documentary on this that was done in the 80's.

alright i am new too this site, but i am a big fan of the buckeyes, and i am a native american, well anyway, about the mascot, here's a option for the school too think about, they wanna do it respectfully, get a real native american too do the dance or whatever the mascot does, make sure it's authentic and not a joke, and this is just my opinion but if any other native american's have a problem with it, then hey at least the school is trying too show they have respect for them. oh yeah is whoever is suing the university wanting artifact's back? i think i heard something about that, if so, why not, most likely it's just object's too the university, but might relly mean something too the people that want them back. but hey it's just what i think

oh i see, i did not know that, but thanks for clearing that up for me, but i am thinking, whoever they got the stuff from, don't you think they could even just give the stuff back too them, back they have been wiped out, but not totally i would imagine, but if it is that they are none left, then i guess they should keep the artifact's
