Whats next for Notre Dame

Meyer made the right decision

I think Meyer made the right decision choosing Florida over Notre Dame for the following reasons:

1. The weather is better;
2. Much more money;
3. Other than Notre Dame there is nothing to do in South Bend (i.e., hard to recruit);
4. Notre Dame no longer has the television advantage (almost every major program's games are televised (NBC should consider dropping Notre Dame - who wants to watch them when they lost 2 games and are playing Navy?);
5. Florida is loaded with talent, Notre Dame is not;
6. Notre Dame players are required to live in the dorms (i.e., harder to recruit).
7. Meyer won't be compared to coaches of the past at Florida because the coach they will compare him to was offered the job and decided to go to South Carolina. At Notre Dame he will be compared to coaches of the past.
8. The offense is more geared toward Meyer's in Florida then Notre Dame.
9. Harder for Notre Dame to recruit in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Iowa, and Michigan because Notre Dame is not in a football conference.

Weiss would be the best option for them. Chow is likely going to the Cardinal or the Huskies. He went to USC because he aspires to be a head coach, I find it hard to believe he would turn Stanford down.
Agreed.. not sure if he would want to goto Stanford though, in the same conference...

ANYWAY! OSU had a ton of guys say no as well didnt they?
A ton? No. We had a few that we wanted above Tressel at the time, that we were unable to obtain due to contracts, etc...

Out of curiosity anyone know who we were after before Tressel? I live out of state, so I didn't get much news on it.

Health Issues?

The only health issue he had was obesity and the fact he almost died having gastric bypass surgery. He's one of the few people I've ever seen that have had the surgery and still looks fat although he has lost weight.

Damn, I hate when I think I know football and go off of knowledge of the game and the NFL and assume Weiss would be perfect for the Irish. Then, some bastard ESPN columnist jots down the information obtained from the probe inserted through my belly button.

From what I remember, the press talked about Gruden. I don't think anybody seriously thought that was realistic. Then Stoops was another that was talked about because he was an Ohio guy. I don't know how serious that was either though. He had just won a Nat'l Championship at OU. I remember talk of the Oregon Ducks coach (can't remember his name damnit!). Then Tressel. I don't know if any of these guys were approached officially other than Tressel though. Others may know more about it than I do. Being a Y-Towner, Tressel was always my first choice with Stoops being second because he is a Y-Towner as well.
