Who will be the new coach?

If we hired Knight, we'd have two coaches in our major programs for whom the OSU job is THE job. That would be worth something. Not a lot of programs are that lucky.

I can't see the AD wanting the possible headaches that come along with Knight. It could be a real coup to bring him here, but there is more possible downside than I think the administration would want to take a chance on.

the good thing with having Knight at tOSU is that ESPN would televise nearly every single game and vitale would be up our ass........

I don't think Sendek is good enough for this job, and neither are Lavin or D'oherty. I'd like to see RMK return to OSU, and that'd create a dynamic between OSU and IU similar to the one between UK and Loserville. He's in a good situation down in Lubbock though, and may want to stay there though. He's pretty good buddies w/ the AD there. Thad Matta is an interesting coach, and I think he'd be great for OSU. Honestly though, taking away my deep love for the S&G, I don't know that I'd leave Xavier for OSU. Xavier's program has been more successful over the last decade, and has been more consistent. Like OSU, they have a new state-of-the-art arena, but unlike OSU, Xavier doesn't have a football program, and basketball is king there.

I'd never hire Steve Lavin. His hair would make the floor all slippery. I have a fair amount of familiarity with Bobby Knight. Although it's scarry, I am positive he would be an excellent coach and take the program forward. I am more interested, right now, on the decisions that lead to O'brian's firing. I respect him as will. I'll be reading every thing I can and we shall see. Chad Motta and Lavin are a resounding NO in my book. Thanks for the time!!

What do you have against Thad Matta? He took Butler to a Sweet Sixteen, and took Xavier to an Elite Eight a year after losing the school's best player ever. I think he's an excellent coach.

Nothing really, Jlb. Just trying to comprehend what is going on. But, If a new coach comes in I'd like to see a big name. The Big Ten is falling enough in all sports.
That has to stop.
