Who will be the new coach?

I think Dawkins would be an exceptional hire, but you could forsee a Roy Williams-type of scenario with him down the road when Coach K retires. He was a hell of a player for them and has certainly paid his dues as an assistant.

My fault: a) for mentioning Chris Jent in jest (he's now had more publicity than in his entire career); and b) crediting him for an NBA ring he didn't earn (which begs the question of whether he actually earned the first one, but he was, in fact, on the Rockets when they won it).

It's common knowledge that Chris Jent was a coke head while at OSU so I don't think he'd be a candidate. With that said, he's still one of my favorite players for OSU along with Jay Burson.

I agree about that being the only downside to Dawkins since he's not a guy with local ties.

I dont think its necessary for the next OSU coach to have local ties. Unlike football , Ohio is not a huge hotbed for basketball talent(2006 could be the exception). I think it should be someone who is a great X's and O's coach, someone who can handle himself on and off the court, someone who can recruit and most importantly someone who has the basketball style that kids would like to play for. Aggressive up tempo offense, and hard nosed down and dirty pressing defense.

I agree.... hell I'm almost thinking it'd be better to get somebody with Detroit ties rather than Ohio ties.

Gary Waters has both though... He's from Detroit, spent 20+ years as an assitant in tSUN (Ferris St. and EMU), and was the head coach at Kent for 5 years (70-25 in his final 3 years at Kent). IMO he should be on the short list.

I talked to a guy who works in the front office of the mens basketball program at tOSU today, and he said all the things that are being said are true. They just made a committe today to hire the new head coach, Terrance Dials is on it. All the names that are being mentioned for the job in the media are people they are looking at. The interim coach right now he said would be a good choice, but stands no chance in an open search for a new coach. He also mentioned that 2 of the 4 signees this year already have said they are staying regardless. Not sure which ones, but it wasnt Butler. Butler has told tOSU he is going to wait and see who becomes the next coach before he decides. He also beleives major sanctions are going to be put on tOSU in the near future.

From an article on ESPN;
She also acknowledged that her attorney asked O'Brien for money to keep her story from becoming public.

An attorney asked Salyers in the deposition, "Kathy, have you authorized your attorney to send a letter to OSU in which your attorney offered to sell the book and movie rights to Jim O'Brien or to an entity controlled by Jim O'Brien?"

She responded, "I authorized my attorney to send every letter that he sent."

How is that not extortion? How does this shitheel lawyer still hold a license to practice?

It's great to know that all of this is blowing up in the uni's face because Salyers wants to get paid. I'm not minimizing the stupid mistake Obie has owned up to (not exactly of his own free will) -- but man do I have a certain amount of bile for Kathy Sayles and Jeffrey K. Lucas, if he's the same attorney.

I know a lot of really intelligent, ethical and professional attorneys. Ambulance-chasing, barrel-scraping, knuckle-dragging queers like this Lucas guy shouldn't even hold the title. Yes, there are too many. No, it doesn't take a great mind to become one.

She flat out has offered (from my untrained eye) sufficient grounds for the Bar to review his actions. I know of people who have been disbarred for FAR less.
