WR Devon Lyons (official thread)

I really the hope the NCAA grants this. I really think Devon could be a big-time contributer for them, as far as their receivers go. He instantly becomes the #2 wideout IMO. Plus, it will probably be a "somewhat" new system with a new OC. Same basic system with new terminology, intricacies I would imagine.

Good luck Devon.

This is the best part of this situation, That Devon will get his degree from tOSU. Well done Devon and best of luck to you.

Yes, that is good news for everyone. He will continue to help tOSU by getting his degree (which will count toward % of graduates) and also by vacating a scholarship that can help land a future recruit. He'll also help himself by pursuing additional studies as well as receiving significant playing time at WVU.

I wish him the best!

isn't devon lyons going to be a 5th year senior. Why would west virginia want him if this is the case. Nothing against devon but he's not that good. He hasn't gotten hardly any playing time since he arrived. Him and albert dukes, who i think should leave the program also were behind sanzenbacher and washington the two freshman on the depth chart. If they cant produce after being here this long then they never will. If lyons went to wv and automatically became there 2nd wide receiver what does that say about wv from a wide receiver position. Not very good in my opinion. Anyway it goes best of luck to devon and maybe he gets a shot at playing time this year for osu. :oh::io:

First, he'd would be eligible right away due to his father's medical hardship (if granted), and would have one season left of eligibility, so maybe WVU would like to have a potential starting WR from system that puts a fair amount of WRs into the pros. Second, just because he never started doesn't mean he's "not that good"...not everyone can be a starter at "WR U". You may want to choose your words better before putting fingers to keyboard next time...

I agree with billmac on this one. There is more to the college football experience than td's, receptions and yardage. In his years @ OSU, he has built friendships and lifelong bonds that stats cannot replace. There are a ton of guys that are hs stars and when they get to college get buried in the depth chart, especially @ a school like OSU. Unfortunately Lyons and Dukes are two of them. If the kid wants to get some PT @ WVV, be with his brother ( I think he's still there) then that's the best choice for him to make. But to say these two should transfer out just b/c they haven't produced like we thought they should have is just stupid. As a Buckeye fan, don't you want these kids to succeed even if it means they aren't in a Buckeye uniform? In some situations it isn't about the stats but more about the kid themselves. I hope things work out for Devon.

Here's the thing.....Devon was offered a scholarship b/c he was the cream of the crop. Bottom Line. Kid has been injured and got buried on the depth chart through bad luck more than a lack of talent.

For anyone who has any doubts about Devons ability, please watch last years spring game, and get back to me. It's as simple as that.

And yes, West Virginia would love to plug this kid into their system for a year.

Good post.

To add to the bolded, assuming the report is true he will have something from his OSU experience that no one can take away from him, a degree from The Ohio State University.

I know we haven't seen Devon much, but the fact that he's on OSU's football team says a ton about his talent. He could start for many other schools in the country. The fact that he could be the second best receiver on WVU doesn't say anything bad about them, it just shows the quality talent that we have here at OSU.

I don't think your intentions with that post were as bad as they sound, but you should probably phrase your opinions a little differently next time. Anyways, welcome to the site. :)
