XBox 360, PS3 or Wii? ( ESPN on 360 for TWC)

Well President Bush would be happy to know that I took part of the stimulus package and just bought a nintendo Wii with it. Was wondering around target, see what new movies came out...and there it was :)

Expect stores to get flooded for the run up to Mario Kart and WiiFit.

Anyone have any idea if Playstation is planning on dropping its prices?
Sony has not tipped their hand, but I think it is inevitable at some point this summer after E3 for them to cut the price on the 40Gb to get it down in the $329-$349 range as a response to Microsoft, which is cutting the 20Gb 360 to $299 in two weeks.

Bump! We're thinking about their an XBox or Wii. Of course, Manfred wants the XBox, and I want the Wii!
The experiences between the two just aren't comparable, you'll probably wind up owning both.

Between the two, I'd get the Wii first, and hold off on the 360 until summer, when the price drops again. MS will have the 360 Arcade model down to the $129 - $149 range before this year is over, while the Wii, on the other hand, will not see a price drop anytime soon, as there isn't much sense in it since Nintendo already can't meet demand with it priced at $249.

Keep in mind, the Wii is the most expensive console to own of all three (Wii, 360, and PS3). The dirty secret of the Wii is that you need four controllers to get all the enjoyment from it as a party system (doubles tennis, for example), and that'll wind up eating another $200 in your budget for peripherals, batteries, etc ... Toss in Wii Fit, which is another must-own Wii title, and you're down another $100 there.

For most people, that $249 impulse Wii-buy winds up being $600+ in the first month!

Pachter's track record is not great, it isn't like he's got any insider info. He's grasping at the same straws everybody else is to figure out what Sony will do to get back their dwindling market share. I think most are expecting a price drop in March/April anyway after the initial sales surges from Killzone 2 (Feb 27) and Resident Evil 5 (Mar 13) subside.

FWIW, you can get a PS3 right now through Dell for 15% off.

Dell : Console : PLAYSTATION® 3 : Gaming: PC & Console : Accessories : Home & Home Office

Only $340 for the $400-80Gb version, or $425 for the $500-160Gb Uncharted bundle. (Uncharted is an awesome game, too).

Since I have been playing games for a long time I do my research on games before I buy them. But what the writer says at the end has a very good point. People that don't know any better wont look into what the game does and the quality and will instead buy it then be disappointed, which in the end will hurt the Wii. Nintendo really needs to be better about making sure they get people to develop games that use the unique ability of the Wii.

Off that topic the writers mentions boom blox as being a game that got over shadowed, and I have to agree. I got the game and it is allot of fun to play.

Just got a Wii from Costco with some xmas money.

What games do you guys own that you are still playing a year or two later? Would Mario Kart be a good selection?

Most of our games will be rented temporarily from Gamefly.

Mario Kart and Mario Galaxy play them both still a ton.
